The first in the group of items that gets shut off are 12v lighter plugs (as radar detectors, phone charge plugs, etc, tend to drain when plugged in, even inactive).

This info is confusing. If the trickle charger is working well enough to charge the battery with alligator clips directly connected, then it should also keep battery voltage high enough when connected to lighter outlet to prevent PCM from turning off the outlets.

I agree it is confusing, but it is what happens. after not driving the car for an extended period of time the 12v sockets shut off

using the 12v socket under the glovebox for numerous weeks seems to work on my 19 RS. in fact my RS has been sitting on the lift for a few weeks so I plugged the charger in yesterday and it now shows the battery to be fully charged. same was true for my 18 GT3.

I followed on advice on this forum to use that specific12v socket, which sockets were you using?

same socket, after 7-8 days car went into power conserve mode and shut off power to it. Connected direct to battery no issues. Tested this three times to make sure I wasn't insane, same results all times.

This is what I know to be true, I've never bothered to test it, as it's simple enough to clip directly to the battery and forget about it for the 3 months the car sits snugly in the garage.
