top installer here...
johnson lin
premier film
protective film

all top guys, each has weaknesses and strength, all $$$
two of the four shops above I have known since 2004. not many are around that long
only they touch my cars.

others are pretty good, but these are the best.

+1 Recommendation for Premier in Fremont. The quality of their workmanship, attention to detail, and customer service are simply the best.

I've had cars done at Premier also. Good work. There's going to be a few that have skillful installers, but what you want to look for are ones that have good support after because NO wrap is perfect...On some pieces you'll see bubbling or lifting and it's how a shop handles this after is what's important. Even when Premier did my car, there was lifting around the edges of my side mirror (this was for an ISF I had done in 2008) and so they redid it again.I would say equivalent great shop in Socal is Protective Film Solution. Great installers, but even better customer service.

I know I am a bit very late here as I just came across this post.

Hey, Obviously I am being a bit biased here but we've gota pretty good team here at Mum Sports that's done over 100's of Porsche cars for the years. We would be happy to take care of you. just give us a call 510-462-3797
. and mention "RENNLIST FORUM" and we'll give you a 10% discount overall. We have exceptional quality technicaians who are meticulous in the work they do and we are also a certified and authorized XPEL PPF Dealer. We have pretty good reviews from our clients as well to give you a sense of the quality of work we do. We'd love to gain you as a customer.

Taking delivery of my 2018 GT3 this week. No PPF on it during first 7k miles of its life. Fingers crossed. Any new headlines in Bay Area PPF shops beyond what's been summarized here the past few years? Can someone hazard a guess as to what partial PPF would cost me, and what full PPF would cost me? Not over-the-top perfection, as I'm not OCD, but solid coverage with good craftsmanship. Agree it's a consumable. Car's paint will likely need some work before the PPF goes down, is my guess. Car is currently decal-free. I am gathering from research here that most owners put decals over PPF, not under?

For the guys who track their cars do you get an extra layer of PPF put on the "shark fin" area in front of the rear wheels?

Yes it is highly recommended, that area always gets pitted by rocks.
