This is interesting as I just looked at the images from BBI that sells these filters, and they look exactly like the one you took photos of.

https://www.bbiautosport.com/product...er-gt3-carrera

I purchased from them before. I do not remember if the gasket was there or not.

I am going to revert back to the paper filter (I have a GT3). I am going to switch them out soon and will update what my old filter looked like (with or without a gasket).

even BMC's website shows the all red filter on their site, no black gasket like the OEM. interesting! Have you called BMC directly?

Only the OEM Porsche stamped BMC filter has the gasket on it, the BMC only branded ones do not. To the best of my knowledge the ones without the gasket perform as expected.

Mine came with the car from the previous owner. Based on the other posts, Im guessing he bought them from Porsche.

Lesson learned — BMCs that go for $160-170/set are the all-red ones with no gasket and shaped slightly differently from the OEM. They will fit but are not snug as they should. Use at your own peril.

Porsche branded ones are the only way to go IMO. Suncoast has them for $380/set, purchased mine at a local dealer for $633/set. I had no choice as I already had the car taken apart for plugs, oil change, brake fluid flush, etc.

I still have my factory set, but sold the car. Used, but they have been cleaned.

the same part number is referenced by several reputable vendors as the correct filter for the 991 GT3/GT3RS. Has anyone experienced the same issue?

As I understand it, the filters with the black gasket are OEM for the GT3 RS; the filters without the black gasket are OEM for the GT3. The ones without the black gasket are OEM and will fit both cars, and are less expensive. I'm not sure why there is a cosmetic difference, or if there is a performance difference.

OEM for GT3 are paper filters. Only RS has BMC — trust me, the all red ones, BMC part number FB709/01 do not fit GT3 RS. Even if you were able to remove the rubber gaskets from the OEM filter, they will not fit the all red ones, dimensions are not the same.

Like someone else stated, BMC filters are washable and re-usable. They sell a cleaning kit for just this purpose so maybe you'll go that route next time.

Just a heads up, not sure if your dealer has the same initiative as mine, but if I quote them a Suncoast price on a Porsche OEM part they will match the SC price, which is pretty cool.

Getting ready to do the 2 year service on my GT3. Will be done at an indy shop, not the dealer.

Can someone please educate me regarding using BMC filters on a GT3? Is there an advantage over the paper filters? Seems like suncoast just has the all red ones. Will that work correctly for a GT3?

What do you all recommend?

I doubt that Suncoast will sell you the incorrect filters. Maybe check to see if the part number is BMC or Porsche — if the former (FB709/01), that will not work.

I have the BMC on my car ... no issues.
