Default OT: Lamborghini Huracan

Hey everyone,

Was hoping to get some insight and experience in regards to the Lamborghini Huracan. I am well aware this isn't a Lamborghini forum, but after being on the forum for a while, I understand that many of you (like myself) are enthusiasts and have a wealth of experiences in many different cars. Specifically, I am considering the 580-2 model.

In terms of use, I just wanted to have a different automotive experience. For reference, I am coming from ~10k miles of daily driving a 991.2 GT3, and currently rotate a GR Supra, Grand Cherokee SRT and modified 718 Spyder. Considering the Huracan as a complimentary fun car to try out (vs just pressing the easy button and going for a 992 GT3/991.2 3RS etc)

Thanks!

Have you also considered looking at a 458/488? If I was looking to move away from Porsche, I think it would be to Ferrari, not Lamborghini. You could also look at an Audi R8 V10 Plus if you want a Huracan with Audi looks.

On an unrelated note, I think I met you years ago when you had a 981 (maybe) at a Cleveland Cars and Coffee. Hope you're doing well in CHI.

I thought long and hard about a 458, but two local friends have them and I've had some experience, so I would like to do something a little different. 488 doesn't interest me as much as something NA for right now. R8 is cool, but I kinda like some of the details of the Huracan (styling, huge paddle shifters, etc)

Haha wow good memory, I left Cleveland in 2017. Yes I had a 981 CGTS at the time! Hope all is well on your end also!

the huracan will be a bit faster in a straight line. the v10 has alot of low end punch too.

458 would probably give you a similar experience for less money imo. huracans do look awesome though.

I can attest that the Huracan is an excellent car. I opted for the 610-4 after also owning a 550-2, so wanted AWD again plus the difference in style and options. Neighbor ended up purchasing a 580-2 a year later and he loves it. Many people can't distinguish the styling differences so that may not matter. My Gallardo was rock solid, so wasn't worried and not disappointed in the quality of the Huracan. It is fast and looks the business. The attention can be a bit too much for some and that's the only negative at some points with ownership.

A 580 with CCB is perfection to me. I've been eyeing the only one on the market for a couple months now, but $180k just seems like a lot of money for a Huracan to me.

Absolutely love my Huracan. Bought it brand new in March of 2019. Almost 11k miles later and it has been flawless.

I am on my second one. First I had a 18 LP580-2 and then replaced it with a 2020 EVO AWD. Both are amazing cars and bulletproof

Appreciate the insight everyone. I suspected at least a few people on this board had some experience with the car! Good to hear that they seem pretty robust, as that is consistent with the research I've done so far as well. Any trouble spots any of you previous owners would look out for specific to this car?

I’d really like a Performante. But rumor is the STO will be announced mid Nov, so I’m waiting to see what that’s all about before I buy one.

Wait until the reveal of the STO and then pickup a Huracan Evo or Performante.

You went from 2wd to awd?... interesting can you share your reasoning and especially difference in driving feel/experience? Thank you

This is a great thread, as I've been interested to learn more about the Huracan myself.

I have a few friends that have Performante's and they absolutely love them. Another guy has an Evo, it's essentially a Performante without the aero, he loves it as well.

From watching YouTube videos, people seem to be saying that the RWD Huracan is more playful and feels more alive compared to the AWD. I would not know, as I did not drive either just yet.

What I heard about the STO - RWD, Super Trofeo Body (with a roof scoop), lots of carbon, light weight, limited run based on production.

STO is not a replacement for Performante, as another Performante will be coming as well.
