Default Extended Warranty

Hi Forum Members,

Sorry I don’t post too often but I do lurk

I’m just in the process of buying a 2016 GT3RS, it has just under 7500 miles on it. The factory warranty is due to run out before I take possession.
I did talk to the Porsche dealership in my hometown and found them quite expensive, so I’m going to look elsewhere for an extended warranty.

I live here in Canada so not sure if a US warranty program would work here, I believe there are programs here in Canada but not sure where too look.
I would appreciate any info from both sides of the border

Thanks in advance
Jim

Would suggest going through Porsche to get CPO warranty. Its probably 5k ish (estimate) to get CPO coverage assuming car meets all criteria. You can then extend CPO by another 2 years.
Canada does not have the same degree of choices for warranty unfortunately.

Welcome and enjoy the new car!

If car is at porsche dealer, its best to add cpo, if car is not at porsche dealer, call your local Canadian porsche dealer and see 3rd party warranties they do take. Best options.

And FYI, the porsche dealer in canada can't add the cpo, only the selling porsche dealer can

Thanks for the info,

I did look into the Porsche option ( $6200 to get into the program ) too expensive and only good for two years, then another $4000 for another two years.

I have somebody here looking into a company called Securedrive, having a PPI done on the car at a Porsche dealership while it has warranty till the end of the month.
I won’t be taking possession until the middle of next month so no warranty when I get it. It’s a low mileage car so if the PPI is good, I don’t think not having a warranty is going to be a deal breaker.

Jim

6200 is pretty cheap insurance with how expensive these cars can break.

If you get a warranty try and get an exclusionary policy.

Definitely agreed. Pay the money for Porsche warranty. Totally worth it.
I have a GT4, and the PCM died. $4000 part here in Australia plus labour.
Cost to me? $0.
Extended warranty cost = $2340 every two years.
I also have the advantage that the previous owner had just paid this for me, however I will extend it again in February 2022.

It’s not a Porsche dealer I’m dealing with, but the car is going into the Porsche dealer on Wednesday for a PPI. I’ve asked the salesman to get info on having the CPO put on, it if possible, I’ve also asked for the rev report on the engine, hopefully it comes back good

Not in the same situation, because I'm in the USA, but just got an extended Porsche warranty quote for my 2017 911 C2S Endurance Racing Edition with X51 PowerKit bought new in June 2018.
With 12.7 k miles on it and 21 months new car warranty remaining, my Porsche dealer quoted what seem like attractive prices for Porsche Platinum extended warranties out to a total of 8 or 9 years from new, and 60,000 total miles. I'm tempted, but might wait until closer to my warranty expiration.
My next might be a 991.2 GT3, and this kind of warranty might add decent value to my 911.

Any reason you went with Easy Care vs. the Porsche Vehicle Service Protection plan managed by Porsche but underwritten by Safeguard International?

I believe the Porsche Vehicle Service plan is just for routine required service, not product defects.
I went with Easy Care because I have had good luck with them on a previous out-of-warranty Porsche and BMW M5.

I'm looking for a GT3 warranty as well. My local dealer service manager recommended Fidelity platinum plan. Anyone have experience with this one. Have you had to use it yet?
