Dundon Loud Muffler - Review
I knew within 500 miles of ownership that this car (991.2 GT3) needed an exhaust. I read all the glowing reviews about Dundon, and still made the mistake of trying two other muffler systems till I came to my senses and put on the Dundon street headers. The street headers are everything I wanted and more. The sound, the tone, and the added power (according to my butt dyno).
I did not buy the Loud Muffler at the time. I kept the stock center. The headers sounded glorious, and couldn’t imagine needing more... However, In the back of my mind, I always wondered how the loud muffler would enhance and/or change the character of the sound.
Well - I installed a loud muffler last week. The only thing I can say is WHY DID I WAIT?
While it's not the same “impact” as going from stock headers to long tube headers, it's a definite improvement over the stock center. It enhances the tone/character of the long tube headers (doesn’t change it). It's slightly louder under WOT - maybe by 10-20% (as far as I can tell inside the car) but under light throttle, I can’t tell difference from stock (I have the valves connected).
As an Analogy - I would say that the headers are like buying a custom tailored suit (clothing). Fits right, looks great, and you realize that it's worth the price (after years of buying off the rack suits…). The loud muffler is like complementing that custom suit with a nice watch and shoes. Sure, you could wear your every day "Timex" and loafers, but it feels much better when properly paired. The loud muffler lets you take full advantage of the headers.
I don’t have any before or after sound clips, my microphone would not do it justice. My next decision is when (not if) I add the TB and Plenum.
TLDR: Dundon Loud muffler worth it!
P.S: I will repeat what has been said hundreds of times… Dundon has the best customer service in the business.

Did you replace the pipes connecting to the loud muffler with larger diameter ones?

No - used the Dundon hardware (Flanges) to step it down.

This makes me even happier that I ordered the loud center. I was on the fence. I then stripped a bolt on the stock center when reinstalling it after trying to pair GMG center with dundon street headers. Made the call to Jamie mid June and spoke with him last week. Should be getting mine shortly.
Also have the valves but I can shut them off via the exhaust button on center console. The rumble in the low RPM range and the sound the car makes between gears when I’m flat out and no lift shifting is intoxicating. I can’t wait to hear it with the added loud center. Thanks for the write up. I’ll add my thoughts once its installed.

Have to admit Dundon's service is exemplary, i ordered some parts last month and incredible service and the advice for tracking was brilliant.

haha. I’m not gonna lie I was skeptical. I couldnt justify the price so I was checking the marketplace daily. Finally found a used set of the street headers with 600 miles on them from a awesome rennlister. Said f it I’ll give it a try. Now the performance I honesty can’t speak much on. I had my car tuned prior and the difference from the tune was night and day. Pushing close to 490whp. I had tuner install headers and re tune. We got close to 500 which is pretty much max for this engine no matter what hardware or tune you have. I don’t want to say I was disappointed but I had known that might be the case. My tuner had his .2 for 2 years and he’s tried out every config with 4.0.
Having said that the sound alone as I was driving home was worth the price I paid. As I put on a few hundred miles the car just got angrier and angrier. This is all with the stock center mind you. It’s been said a lot on this forum yes and I was one of those guys like “c’mon gimme a break” but I get it now. I’ve yet to see a loud center for sale in marketplace. And I believe there’s been 2 compete systems for sale I’d say over the last 8-12 months. I still check daily. I think that speaks volumes.

I did not test it with the stock headers. I think most folks use this muffler in conjunction with their headers.

Loud muffler and crack pipe are two totally different things.
I have the full set up with the loud muffler. Is the way to go. You can spend less but you won’t find better products developed thru research with unmatched customer service.
