With "modernized" Cars increasingly relocating functions from instantly accessed ***** and Buttons to more
Stylish Screen Displays which require drivers to take their eyes off the road ahead to select and confirm
increasingly diverse Infotainment, Environmental, Engine, Comfort, Air Conditioning, Heating, Navigation
and Driving modes, we can expect driver distraction to account for more frequent accidents.

Ouch.

This concerns me a lot. On my block we have no on street parking but visitors, etc park on the street usually during the day. People zip down the block or pull out of their driveway not expecting a car to be there and boom.

Probably not totaled, but totally sucks. Having to go through getting it repaired, not having it for the foreseeable future, bad carfax(probably), and the diminished value, Hopefully she has good really good coverage or its going to suck even more.

Damn this is upsetting....

If the car is not totaled, make sue he fights for the value that the car will lose due to the accident. This applies only to high end cars / exotics. I forgot what it's called... but you don't get it unless you ask for it.

Diminished value applies to all cars, motorcycles, trailers, boats...ect. The amount depends on the vehicle's value along with whether or not structural damage was done or not.

I've always told my wife that you have to fail a driving test to buy a CRV or Prius. This is proof! Sorry to hear.

Definitely not totaled but that is a major repair that will materially impact the value of the car. As others said, payment for diminished value will be important.

This person is exactly why self driving features can't come fast enough for some people IMO.

Only a medical crisis could exonerate that loss of control.

what a bunch of trash!! This person is an absolute MORON if they are not blind. Hell even Ray Charles would alert the community that he's behind the wheel - "park in the driveway you got the right one babeeee oh yeah!!" rocks head back and forth

Ive seen stuff totaled for WAY less. The speed she was going and where she hit him. I'd bet it's totaled, but also agree with most in that it will never be as perfect as OEM and the diminished value needs to play a huge role in this.
