New 991.1 GT3 Owner (and first Porsche!)
Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker, and first post here as I just bought my first Porsche- and my dream car- a 991.1 (2014) GT3. Okay, well almost dream car, because I really wanted a 991.2 GT3 in a bright color but can't afford one yet.
In any case, I *think* I got a good deal on it based on all the research I've done as it's a highly optioned $162K build. The only "negative" is that it's a Porsche buyback car as they replaced the motor very early on. However, it has 11,500 miles on it and is overall mint aside from that. I paid $98K for the car.
My previous 5 "fun" cars have always been M3's (F80, E92, E46, E36) so it's quite the upgrade.
I planned on keeping this awhile- hopefully I have an engine issue and get a G transplant so I can keep it far longer. Otherwise, this one may be a drive for 2 years and sell.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
I actually was wanting a 981 Cayman GT4 as I had a blast test driving them, but they weren't depreciating enough for me to pull the trigger. They always felt like a bad value considering they are now near 5 years old and were still selling in the mostly 80K range. I drove a few standard C2S & 4S but they weren't exciting enough for me to part ways with my F80 M3. This GT3 was a little above my budget, but it definitely feels special and worth the extra cost. Hopefully it stays reliable.
Thanks that's the plan! First car I've owned where I feel like I'm incentivized to drive it as much as possible. No need to let this one sit in the garage.

Congratulations on your new GT3! The only time you might miss not purchasing a .2 is when visiting this website. Otherwise, the 991.1 GT3, just like those that preceded this version, are epic cars. The smartest decision any car buyer can make is to stay within their means. This is a dream car, so is a Honda Civic for some people. Many members on this forum owned a .1 before the .2 came available. And there are far more people who will never be on this site who attempted to get a slot for these cars but couldn't. Sleep well...98k is a tremendous value for that car.

Congrats dude. I made the same move you did coming from the same exact cars. Picked up a GT silver as well so I love your color. F80 was my finale especially when I saw the gaping g80 of a buck tooth grille I threw in the towel with bmw m. Won’t even look back, these 911s are just something special just another level

Awesome!
As a 5x M3 owner, I can say with extreme confidence that you will never go back. That's not a knock of BMW, but these things are just that damn good.
Loving the influx of new .1 owners popping up.
