Oh, I didn't think that was possible. If I move to AP racing brake setup for GT3 it could be swapped to the .2 RS later? Same for harness bar?

Yessir, same part number.

Same goes for the roll bar. I'm not aware of any brand that has one that is RS specific.

IMO, I'd pull those buckets and preserve them as they're a very valuable item and throw in some recaro spg's. You'll be throwing belts around, poking it with the back of your HANS, etc. Save that abuse for a $1k seat.

Once you go all in on safety gear, you'll never look back. Half cage + FIA seats + HANS + 6pt is confidence inspiring... Add the AP Radicals on top and I'm sure you'll forget about an RS real quick.

In my experience all 991 GT cars be it a 991.1 GT3, 991.2 GT3 manual or pdk, or either of the .1 or .2 RS's are close enough that with marginally more driver skill any could be faster than the other on any track day. I feel like it might even be more fun gunning for the RSs in your regular old GT3 - but that might be me.

Agreed w the opinion that, if RS is a must, def sooner rather than later in terms of investing further mod money into .1.
I agree. I have seen many lesser cars with better drivers that are much faster at track events than drivers in Porsche GT car...and that includes myself.

For sure. This is not about getting an RS so that I could be faster on track. That would be the completely wrong approach. I have plenty of room for improvement in the GT3. Long term, I would like to have an RS and so this seemed like a logical point to move on.

I have a '16 991.1 GT3 that I've tracked a few times and would like to track more often. However, I would like to add a harness bar and convert the PCCBs to steel, before tracking more regularly. I have previously tracked a 981 Cayman S and an E46 M3. At the moment, I'm nowhere near the limit of the GT3 but I have the itch to get an RS. Should I save the money on these changes to the GT3 and instead upgrade to .2 RS? I understand the cost delta is greater than just these modifications and many .2RS come with PCCBs.

I wouldn't be buying the RS for improved track times. That comes with seat time and experience at the track. My main motivation is to avoid further track miles, money on mods and depreciation before moving to the RS.

Appreciate your thoughts and feedback.
Have you ever driven a 2019 GT3RS?

I just traded my 2018 GT3 manual for a 2019 GT3RS Weissach and the difference is night and day,....(for the better!

No! Unfortunately, I haven’t driven. I had booked an event to drive it but it fell through due to COVID. 😫

Can you please expand on this?

Is it the PDK and suspension mostly?

reading reviews and comparing technical specs on paper are not enough, you really need to drive these cars to know.

after driving the 2019 GT3RS I quickly realized how limiting the 2018 GT3 manual was

if your looking for the ultimate GT3 experience, the 2019 GT3RS Weissach is it

I lucked out on my score;

I am trying to find an opportunity to drive an RS to feel the difference. The Porsche LA center has an experience for the RS.

There's no question there is a difference between the 3 and 3RS. A significant one, no less.

But the real questions should be ... do you really want or care for that difference?

There’s definitely a want. 😄
I need to drive one to confirm.
