I love displacement. BUT.

Why does this sound like Ford’s 460ci engine in the late 70’s? Rapidly changing laws left the world with a 197 horsepower, emission choked, big block.

End of the day, Governments should make a specialty vehicle exception law that allows reasonable but not ridiculous standards.

Using the US as an example. They sell 17M cars a year.

Porsche sold 12k 911’s and 718’s last year. Add that to the 3000 Ferrari sales, 1000 Aston martins, 1000 Lambo, 1000 McLaren.

So call this total 20-25k cars a year that are speciality vehicles. Most are driven less than other cars in the household. That is less than 0.15% of total US Sales.

Even if you toss in Corvette you are not exceeding about 0.6%.

The numbers do not make sense.

Toyota sells 1.4M Corolla’s alone in the US and most are driven 10-20k miles a year. That is a great place to apply emission standards.

Going turbo in a remotely sporty or performance vehicle does not make sense from an emissions stand point. If you drive such a vehicle the way it is intended it will suck gas like there is no tomorrow. Small capacity turbo engines only make sense for emissions in family based commuter type vehicles. For sports cars, NA is probably better for the environment, if not as outright powerful.

The Turbo S is considered a Low emission vehicle, is that correct? The GT3 is subject to gas guzzler tax. The act of turbocharging aids emissions.
