991.2 Paint Meter Readings
Hi - looking to buy a Paint to Sample 991.2 GT3. I have a Elcometer 311 (FNF) paint meter and was wondering if anyone knew what the min max levels are on a paint to sample car? Has anyone paint metered their PTS 991.2 and care to share the readings? I have searched the forums and found discussions on other models, but not the 991.2 GT3's. I metered a car at a local dealer and the quarters were 6-8.5 mils (readings consistent on each side in same area) and the doors were 5-7 mils both sides. I also noticed on both sides the quarters (front by door gap) were 8.5 mils on both sides. Orange peel appears to be consistent all the way around the car. The nose was wrapped (12-14.5 mils). Thanks in advance for your input.

I know this is not a GT3, but it is PTS. Looks like 4-5. Just keep in mind every meter will read slightly different. Side to side measurement is most important and consistence between panels. Any aluminum may read slightly different too in my experience, even if the meter adjusts. Sounds like that one is in spec unless the entire thing was resprayed which is unlikely.

Race Car
OP: I too am an amateur paint meter user. If I got the readings you indicate, I’d be satisfied/happy.

Color is PTS Mexico Blue. The doors are 5-7 mils (both sides) and the quarters are (6-8.5 mils). Again, readings on both sides are consistent in each location of the panel. No bolts have been turned on the entire car, and orange peel appears to be consistent all around. Asking as I thought most Porsches were 4-6 mils.
If anyone has a PTS 991.2 GT3 and a paint meter, curious to see what your car reads.

J beau why would you think PTS would be different then normal standard paint ?
I don’t think they paint in a other area....other then down the line .
They can paint pts down the line they just add the order in the program ...the germans know how to run a factory...
no waste they run a tight ship...that’s why they are profitable.
