Default 997.2 to 991.1 GT3

Hey everyone!

Long time lurker, I have had the pleasure of owning several "sports cars" in the past few years: Sti, e92 m3, f80 m3, Gt350R, 997 TT, 997 gt3. I ended up selling the gt350 and an F80 m3 in order to buy my 997 turbo but I felt a lack of emotion in the turbo and found myself loving the torque and hating the sound and handling characteristics. I ended up tuning the car with UMW and throwing a euro pipe on, which woke it up a little but there was still a lack of theater that I had come to love in the GT350. The stock suspension felt like I was handling a jet ski so I went to BBI gave them 12k and let them do what ever they wanted. The suspension came out good, not great, but good. After a few months of that I started exploring the idea of going for a gt4 but after a test drive I found that it ticked all theatrical boxes but it lacked power and the second gear was 3 miles long. I decided that a GT3 would likely check all boxes and found a 2015 a week before the quarantine started. I was concerned that the GT3 would feel slow and I would miss the classic 997 turbo shape and look. I could not have been more wrong, somehow I find the GT3 to be more refined and what it lacks in torque it replaces with nine thousand RPM . The suspension is sublime and the car feels at home in the canyons and mountains of San Diego. The sound alone would be enough to convince every turbo owner to sell their cars, this is so much more of whatI have been looking for in a sports car and after 7 cars in the last 3 years I think I have finally settled on a car that checks all the boxes! I couldn't be happier and have already ordered a gmg center.

Awesome pickup - and just in the nick of time to properly 'socially isolate' in the canyons!!

Your description of the 997tt pretty much sums it up. I owned one for a year. Was great in the torque department. Lackluster in many other aspects.

Enjoy your GT3 to the fullest!!

We are actually off Buena Creek in the hills above Vista. Slightly unfortunate, I picked up a screw in my back right tire today on De Luz road in Fallbrook so off to the dealer for a new tire lol. Such is life, my wife took it as a great time to let me know what a money pit cars are!

Car is at the detail shop getting a full paint correcting and a ceramic coating, decided to add a little flair to the wing. Last week I added a GMG exhaust car now sounds like nothing I have ever been in highly recommend as a must have. Ill upload some more pictures after the paint correcting and ceramic coating!

The car looks great. Looking forward to the pictures and maybe a sound clip, Is the car lowered or is the angle the picture was taken from?

For those wanting a little sound clip, sounds absolutely amazing. This sound carries through the valley for miles, I’m hoping all my neighbors love it as much as I do.

That is stout and sounds amazing! Dealers may want to steel this sound clip should the lurkers need more convincing.

Totally agree with your description. I bought a 991.2 C2S in 2018 and never felt the thrill that I had hoped for. Super competent car, of course, but the turbocharged engine took some of the excitement away, even though it was inarguably good. But what I really wanted was what the 991.1 Gt3 I bought in 2019 gave me. All the thrills. The sound, etc. Rails handling. 9k. That sound. That sound.
