GT4 faster than a 991.2 GT3 RS

Click baity title aside, I've driven the 4.5l and it's an awesome motor, my car would already be under the knife if not for the tri-state covid-19 lockdown. It's not a GT3, it doesn't rev to 9k, an RS is still an RS and all that, but with a fat torque curve it's a whole different really hilarious experience where the traditionally under powered GT4 feels suddenly very under-tired at the rear.
I think it's a great example of what the 9A1 is capable of and what Porsche could have done with it if they wanted to. With the RSR going to 4.2l and presumably the 992 GT3rs as well, it would be great to see more yuge 6s. 9A1 bottom ends are shared between GT4 and 991.1 GT3 so I assume that 4.5L 991.1 GT3 is just as doable. The 991.1 GT3rs might only need bore and pistons .....

I think you missed the whole point of making this video. The GT4 was just as capable of braking and cornering as fast as the GT3, the video was made to show the power and if I didn't ease up entering the brake zones and corners then the video would have been over after 1 straight.
Decision criteria would include facts like MCS (minimum corner speed) and knowing the braking system is identical from GT4 to GT3 and the MCS is the same. Those facts coupled with the drag race results you just witnessed would certainly prove to show the GT4 could have continued to drive away from the RS.
Cheers!

The GT4 was on stock tires, stock brake pads, stock brake fluid, 3 point factory seat belts....
The RS had Motorsport rotors and pads, race brake fluid, race tires and full safety equipment.
I think the point is you are just an antagonist and really have nothing positive to add to this thread.

It was a completely unplanned event.
And regardless of whether it's faster or not, it's a testament that the GT4 was not a regular GT4 and made me scratch my head when I couldn't walk away from him. Turned out to be a great video, regardless of the outcome and was fun.
See you next year, Rick!

I was at this event at Sebring and awew911 was not the only GT3/RS to fall prey to the straight line acceleration of this beastly Cayman, and lets not forget that was a manual GT4 vs a PDK RS. I also drove a 4.25L equipped Cayman at this event, and even that was pretty epic. Having seen Rick in action on Sebring on occasion, he most certainly was holding back in order demonstrate the straight line acceleration comparisons in this video. To those that love the Cayman platform and prefer it over the 911 (many do) it is extremely attractive to finally have a Cayman on an even playing field with the best of the street legal, naturally aspirated 911s. I'd imagine this particular subforum won't get as many of those fellows chiming in haha. Either way, major kudos

lol - anytime, anyplace, 50 laps
BTW my old time attack evo will thrash both......................................
A car modified for racing will virtually always beat/thrash a street car - this is not news
