Dash cam?

Anyone here using a dash cam? I want one for general protection in case anything comes up on the streets. I also track a bit and would love it for that too. Father in law is my insurance agent and suggested one to cover myself in case anyone does something stupid. The evidence would help for sure. This car seems to attract people wanting to race at all times. Thanks in advance for your input.

All my cars have dashcams and have been using them for over 8 years, I’ll update this post with my setup once I get to my computer.
update:
Ok so I have 4x Blackvue DR900S-2CH (https://amzn.to/32M5zbm) and they are all connected to a battery backup called Blackvue B124X (https://amzn.to/2TQ7xoL), I don't like the PowerMagic Pro because it never worked for me.
Some are connected straight to the fuse panel (it charges faster) and some to the cigarette plug. One very important thing is to make sure you buy a compatible MicroSD card. The slower the better, faster cards tend to overheat and you'll get constant restarts. I have the Sandisk Ultra 400GB (https://amzn.to/39kBqlP) and never had any problems even in 100 degrees weather.
One option I keep asking Blackvue is to have some sort of geofencing so the camera doesn't keep recording in parking mode when it's in the garage.

Blackvue and power magic pro, luvin it in the gt2... the 12.5v setting was a bit off, considering the car pulls a lot of power when u shut it down I cant blame the power magic. The 12.1v settings has worked perfectly, coupled with 6hrs of park mode recording.

I use a Front-Windshield Mounted Garmin DashCam with a 64MB Memory card @ $150. Decent Video with GPS, Lane Diversion,
Traffic closing and motion-starting warnings, Parking and Driving Speeds, precise time display and GPS location displayed on Video,
Still photos and parking records displayable, and periodic software updates and improvements, good service from Garmin if needed.
Windshield adhesion adequate for HPDE use, and easily removable magnetic mounting to deter thieves from breaking in to steal your camera.

I have three blackvues running. I love them. However there is a problem if you run IOS 13. I won’t try to summarize it but long and short is you can’t hook into the cameras wifi because of some Apple security features which means no ability to change settings or access footage. Known problem and there are work arounds using location sharing choices within the blackvue options. That said I just put in my third camera and the work around I had used before does not seem to work anymore with the new blackvue app. I’m not tech genius so maybe I fouled it up. However blackvue knows about this issue and hasn’t remedied it. Every other major Dashcam company has as I understand it. Fortunately I had an old iPhone running IOS 12 so I can access the cam and the footage and settings.
long story sorry - won’t be buying blackvue again so time to start researching a new system.
