Default Paint to Sample (PTS)

Hi Everyone,

In your opinion, does a 2016 PTS GT3 RS have more potential resale value then a 2019 stock Miami Blue one? Same list of full options.

Depends on the PTS color, Miami Blue is still a rare color. The 2019 would have a better resale just for being the next generation.

In my opinion, a 2016 PTS will be more desirable than a 2019 with the same options INCLUDING Weissach cars in the not so distant future. Boils down to exclusivity, production numbers, etc. While the .2's are desirable now due to being latest and greatest, I suspect the generation as a whole will be looked upon as very similar .1 vs .2 once the 992 comes out and beyond. Lastly, no PTS for the 2019 RS make the 2016 PTS cars cooler and more exclusive too, imo. At least this is what I'm telling myself as a 2016 PTS owner.

PTS overrated in my opinion. It is only worth more based on the desirability from a specific individual for that specific color. It has gotten pretty expensive so you really got to love the Color that you are going to pay more for.

I think the MB 2019 will be worth more. Best color on the 2019 plus- you have a better engine for certain.

Its true that beauty, and value, is in the eye of the beholder. However, one look at the many available for sale whites, oranges, and purples for the .1RSs and greens, whites, reds, blacks for the .2s tell you some of the story. Supply and demand and exclusivity matters to market and market values. I ran into someone on the roads last week in a Miami Blue Turbo S with the aero package. We parked them side by side. MB looks awesome, but in my honest opinion my Voodoo RS made it look like a bland color. Opinion of course. Also, what about 997RS PTS greens going for a ton more than all other colors? It's the color AND low production/exclusivity. My .02

I'd have a hard time ignoring that one, picking with my heart, it would be 2016. But I'm a bit bias.

Either buy for yourself and spend time enjoying your choices or buy for someone else at resale and spend time asking on the internet what it will be worth when you sell.

I think that's hard to gauge without knowing the asking price of each? 2016 probably has started to slow on the depreciation curve where 2019 still has a way to go.

Unless you just asking which one will be easier to sell? I think that would be the 2019.

Human nature. People want what they can't have. Yes, always buy what you want most. This forum proves to me every day that many on here have a ton of disposable income and will pay extra for exactly what they want.

It's interesting to see the folks that dog those who ask about value. There are members on here that see these as dream cars and will take the 'life is short' approach and stretch their budget to enjoy their dream. Value matters to some in order to realize their dream. Don't be a stick in the mud.

I've had both. 2016 RS in RS green and 2019 RS in lizard green. No doubt I'd take the 19 and never regretted it for a second.

While you should obviously get the color that appeals to you, in terms of resale only, it's worth noting that viper green may not be the easiest to move down the road. While it is a bit apples to oranges, I tracked 8 lightly used PTS GT3s throughout the spring/summer/and fall of 2019, including two green PTS builds in Colorado. Eventually all the cars moved as prices dropped from above MSRP, to MSRP, to about 10% below MSRP. The green cars were the last hanging out there and one is still around (https://www.porscheofcoloradosprings...co-id-27187176).

I personally love green but it is not as popular as some other PTS colors (blues and greys). Heart -- go with the color you like best value be damned (what I did). Head -- MB with the newer engine.

I am considering PTS on a 992 C2S cabrio which will probably not be able to order until end of 2020 for 2021 delivery. Timing is perfect for my needs.

My thought - Big waste of money and will not get a $.01 out of it later. But - I love Signal Yellow, as well as, Grigio Telesto( leaning here) and I just really want it my way. But- I have no inkling of a thought that I will recoup my money or feel I will lose less down the road.

Order what you want/like. Do not worry about the next guy
