The safety of a 4 pt. relies on being safely saved by an airbag.

Many years ago, I installed a 4 pt Schroth harness in an Audi. It made me think I was safer. It felt pretty "racey." One of our local events outlawed them. In my next car, I put in a roll bar, a 6 pt and started using a HANS.

The 4 pt. is clearly a compromise in safety compared to a 5 or 6 pt. It is much easier to install. Make any decision you want, but do it with both eyes open. At a minimum, if you are going to use a 4 pt then my recommendation would be to get a Simpson Hybrid Hans device. I say this as an 18 year DE instructor and as a physician.
This exactly.

4 points are the equivalent of Porsche buckets.

A compromise.

Not sure where it's stated that you can't use a HANS with these Schroth harnesses for the carbon buckets but it's not true.

These posts are exactly why no one uses the 4 pts. I think they are a great compromise, an upgrade over the stock 3 points for sure, but people have so many different ideas of whether you can run 4 pts with Hans, w/o a roll bar, etc that you never know what you're going to get at tech. At that point it's just easier to get the 6 pts and not have to explain ASM and all that....

6 points, bar and a Hans device are a good choice if you want to avoid being on a first name basis with a neurosurgeon.
