Ditto for me also on a Carrera S. A couple of launches. A few surprises of just how aggressive it really is in Sport+. A few months of flicking the paddles. Then, the bouncing to rest in "P" like a minivan was the overriding feeling. Objectively superior in every way, but not my cup of tea in the end. I think a proper handbrake would help a lot to make avoiding the bouncing more enjoyable -- still really dislike the e-brake, and especially its location. But I digress...

I agree. I have owned both transmissions on GT3 and prefer the manual, to each their own of course.

I have both as well .1 gt3 and a .2 gt3 manual.... manual everyday if I only had one. With full throttle shifting and auto blip it’s almost like an auto.... also the clutch is waaaay easier than a 997. The pdk is fun and easy in traffic, but I’d buy a manual even on track I have more fun in the manual, if I only was able to have a pdk I’d have an rs.

Not to start yet another MT vs PDK debate, but PDK and the crazy redline in the 991 are lots of fun but does not replace the 997. Have both if you can, but if not, keep the 997. We don't even need to discuss the trajectories of where values of each have been going.

Seems you're searching to find a new experience. Try something different, whether it's a Porsche or another brand.
FWIW, I had a 997 and appreciate that generation for what it is. Like so many 911's, it's a great drivers car and has an appeal similar to other older iterations. I have an RS now, and have never wrestled with idea that I should revert back to a 997. I have a fondness for 911's and the 997 since I owned one, but for me it ends there. Similarly, I don't miss having a manual. Not for one second, ever. I suppose I'm against the grain on this one. Anyhow, I like to experience the evolution with cars and seek different experiences as the lineup changes. It is astonishing what these cars are capable of.
Good luck in your search!

I'm in the minority (maybe silent majority?), but I think this forum has generally gone way overboard on the MT love. The PDK-S makes the car for me. And if I wanted a MT, I'd stick with the 997 generation.

I did this ... I sold my 997.2 GT3 (mexico blue) back in 2017 and bought a new 2018 991.2 GT3 (both manual of course)
my "executive" feedback: 997 is a more "raw" drive, the 991 is "faster" and handles . better...
In particular:
- 4.0L engine is EPIC - I dont miss the Mezger
- the new 6 mt is amazing, the clutch is so light that my left calf has shrunk as a result of not regularly depressing the 997 clutch!
- the whole chassis/suspension and aero package is far superior - the car is simply more agile and more confident - I think this is down the to the RWS and the new (R) rear diffuser
- the FAL on the 991 is much better than the flaky 997 version
- but the car feels and is bigger ...

sold my .2 997, acquired a 2015 991.1 (pdk-s of course), sold that to acquire my present .2 991 with a manual. with the 4.0l, I no longer miss the iconic mezger. although, maybe I'm just getting old and forget shxt...

I loved the clutch on the 997 but equally love the clutch on the 991.
