Default PDK rolls in Park?

Hey guys, got a strange one here. Went out for a Sunday evening drive in my 2015 GT3 and all was well. The car runs fantastic after its new G series motor replacement some 1400 miles ago, but when I went to the car to put it up for the night I noticed it had already rolled backwards into the gate which caught me off guard to say the least. I jumped in and sure enough the car was in Park but it rolls forward and backwards just like as if it were in Neutral.

The wing and the rear bumper have some paint missing/minor damage unfortunately which is disappointing as I've kept it perfect (aside from track rubber/rocks) until now. I'm more relieved the gate did its job and kept the car from rolling out into the street! Definitely could have been worse.

Anyone else ever seen this before? I'm wondeirng if there's a correlation to the engine replacement and this, but I'm afraid the dealer won't warranty the transmission unless it's a safety thing. Not sure how to approach it tomorrow with them.

Funny thing is I used to always engage the Parking Brake until very recently when I've seen a few threads where people have trouble releasing it at random times. Time to crank some Alanis Morissette

The transmission has a parking pawl that should be engaged when the car is put into park. Could be a cable adjustment issue, otherwise it’s an internal transmission issue.

Thanks, I'm thinking (or hoping rather) that this is an adjustment issue. The car shifts in/out of park a little too easy now.

I had the exact same problem in my 2014 GT3. It would roll in park unless I used the parking brake. Turns out, the shifter cable was not secured into bracket and it came loose somehow, I have attached the repair order from the dealership. They fixed the issue.

This is great news, thank you for sharing your experience. Hope mine is the same! Dropping it off tomorrow. I'll update the thread with the diagnosis/fix in case it happens to others.

Easy fix.

Sorry for your gate. Good save!

Yes, when your G motor was installed sometimes things don't go back together "factory" tight.

Has happened with other port cars as well.

Thanks Marcus! Just got the car back. All it needed was a cable and plastic clip which was covered by Porsche Austin fortunately. Here's the part number, diagnosis, and fix:

I bet they messed it up on the engine removal and refit.

Agreed, I think that's why it was covered.

Did they fix the paint damage on the car for free?

Good question. Fortunately I was able to wax the bumper and remove any flaws, but the rear wing has about an inch of paint missing on the trailing edge where it made contact with the gate. I didn't make a big deal of it since it's hardly noticeable. I'll dab some oem touch up paint on that and call it a day. That way the next buyer (if I ever decide to sell this thing) will see the extent of the "damage" and there won't be any unknowns about paintwork.

Maybe I should have made a scene of it but then again I wasn't sure it was worth pursuing about something I couldn't solidly prove.
