Default Odd Rubbing noise in brakes 991.2 GT3

Hey there everyone, I know everyone has squeaky brakes, but I've recently been hearing an odd rubbing noise of sorts (in addition to the normal squealing); has anyone experienced this? I've posted something similar in the brake squeaking thread, but haven't a gotten response. Anyone have any ides?

Thanks in advance!

Usually means a tiny rock got in there.

Question - do you have PCCB or Steel Rotors?

If you are running steel rotors, then this is not an issue. I am not sure about how delicate PCCB's are as I never owned them.

If it's a small rock, try backing up and hit the breaks somewhat hard. I did this a while back and it cleared out.

Everything stock and I'm running steel rotors with about 4700 miles on the clock.

That is what I am suspecting its; the roads I drive on in SF are pretty crappy so I'm not that surprised. I'll try what you mentioned.

I'm running steel rotors and it looks like you may be correct. I don't my car too often, but when I do, I drive on terrible streets in SF; as a result, I wouldn't be surprised if a rock got stuck in between the caliper and rotor.

I have over 10,000 miles on my GT3 now, and I've only had this happen once. I've driven on some pretty sh*tty roads, so once isn't bad.

How did you go with the noise , is it resolved by reverse hard brake ?

I’m having the Odd rubbing noise as well.

cheers

Finally went to the dealership for a test drive and according to the Forman, the sound is not normal. I'll report back once they inspect it and let me know what the issue is. I'm hoping its nothing serious.

It could just be the drilled holes in the iron discs. Drilled holes and slots in discs are designed to give the brake pads more sharp leading edges to grab. The downside to having all of those edges rubbing across the surface of the brake pads is a whirring or scraping noise. It's usually most noticeable when driving next to a wall or barrier, as the sound is reflected back to the ear.
