I had the fault occur a couple times the last few months but leaned that if you do not push in the brake before releasing the brake the fault will appear and then you have to turn car off and then back on to clear it.

I brought my car into the dealer after getting the fault intermittently. Apparently there is a recall concerning the brake shoes and perhaps another part as well. It didn’t seem to affect anything physically in the braking system, but better to have this fixed IMO.

Service bulletin, not recall.

I'm having the same issue and the dealer needed to order replacement parts. They stated that the parking brake shoes are too long and have an updated version which is shorter, or something like that. Here's what the service invoices stated but still waiting on parts.
6979 confirmed parking brake error present. created VAL and checked fault memory. found fault for left actuator travel in control unit. removed both rear wheels and brake rotors and inspected components. found brake pads are making contact with actuator. ordered new brake shoes per bulletin 1901. client to return when parts arrive.
I'll report back when the new parts have been installed and any additional information.

Mine wouldn't calibrate correctly. The indy shop that was trying to get it to work did me a solid and didn't really charge me for all the time they spent trying to get it to work. I had to take it to the stealership and it cost me $800 for them to calibrate the parking brake correctly. Took them a long time...

Bundle of thanks bro. I am just able to recover my dead parking brake by just simple adding the random code 01030100 which you have mentioned. Still it's giving parking brake in service mode but at least I can apply and release it now. I think it needs calibration now because it's not used since long. When I apply it the red light keeps blinking.
