Delaminated Dunlops (Sport Maxx Race 2)

In that case my bet is that he went over something (curb or debris) at the Ring which lacerated the tire but went unnoticed. During his high speed excursion on the autobahn the lacerated piece of the tire got progressively worse and eventually chunked off. This or manufacturer defect.

If I read it correctly the manufacturing date is week 21, 2018.
The car ran 300kph+ multiple times at the Ring - it was a closed track day rather than TF so the Dotinger Hohe was open.
No signs of any issues at the track.
SEB74 had a Trofeo R high speed explosion in his GT2RS at Monza if I remember correctly. Maybe he could share some of the details of his case.

Did he let his tires down before he ran on track rather than let them down as they warm up?
Porsche are actually explicit about this given these are road tires - specifically P177 Race circuit driving
"NOTICE
Releasing air from cold tires before driving on a race circuit can damage the tire structure"
Very different kettle of fish to a true R spec with reinforced sidewalls.
To me it still looks like the tire was damaged in someway (by debris for example) and then chunked at high speed.

Strange how no one commented on the unusually high pressures. 41psi hot is at least 5 more than what I'd run these tires at...
That said this type of failure is more consistent with underinflation and not over. Perhaps try to get your tire shop to report to Dunlop, and see if they'd be incentivized to give you some compensation...

Had similar with my 997 GT3 on MPSC2. Rubber detach at 270 kph both times. Third time it was discovered before I went back to the track.
Some say it is because of my rear camber and others very sure that I ran them tires with too low pressure cold.
Now I'm very particular with the tire pressures especially after a good lunch. We'll see if that helps.

I think it’s maybe low pressure AND cold ambient temps.
Just because we start of very low 20-22 sometimes and need a few laps to get them up to 26 to push and then end up 32-34.
Never had that problem but that’s at hot Sebring.
Or the Dunlops don’t have the super stiff walls of the Michelins.
But anyway I run higher pressure in Dunlop because they don’t fall off like the Michelin’s when hot.
Even running Michelins I’ve run them higher because lately I’ve run them in cooler ambient temps and/or didn’t need to get the last second out of the lap.
At the Ring I never went out below 26PSI because of the Foxhole compression relatively early in the lap.
Dash would show 30 by the tine I get there.

Same thing happened on my 991.2 at Road Atlanta with MPS2 - two weeks after delivery and first track event. It was not due to pressure (36-38) and the car had factory setup. I think it is from hitting the gators at high speed.
My GT3RS had a different failure immediately after delivery at Barber Motorsports. The valve stem was not seated/screwed in all the way on the front right wheel and the tire lost air and deflated as it came off the track - scary as ****! I check all of my valve stems after delivery from the factory.

Even w Dotinger open too much drag to get close to that w 3RS. Even Estre during his record run topped out at 275-280. Minor point, seemed not possible based on my experience.
Kobalt, what do you see as top speed?

I got to 292 kph in 991.2 Turbo (according to speedo, not gps), but that has a smaller wing and a bit more hp - I don’t even think the RS broke 286 (from around 6:45 on vid) on the record lap with pro driver:
