Alignment Review-Effect
I thought I would post a review after a recent alignment.
It was done after 2000 miles and 4 track days at Barber Motorsports Park on a new .2 GT3.
The car showed no unexpected handling issues. I just wanted a more Track focused alignment.
My best time was a 1:42 and mostly 1:43-1:44s.
It turns out the rear toe was out 1/4 inch!!!
The Plan
Front
3 Degrees Camber (For tire wear)
1/8 Out Toe (Turn-In, Rotation)
Rear
2.5 Degrees Camber, 0 Toe
Tech was only able to get 2.5-2.7ish camber.
He blamed some BS about studs where shims go aren’t long enough for more shims.
He also doesn't like multi shims. Are stacking shims acceptable? I would not know why not...I think he didn’t have enough shims. Oh well
The Good
WOW
I ran several low 1:40s!!!!
The Bad
Way more Loose/Oversteer/Rotation
I would like opinions on why 2 seconds faster. I’m sure some from getting more comfortable with car.
I know I’ve increased corner speeds.
Question
How much "looseness" was caused by alignment vs more speed?
2nd
I would like more specifics about other racers alignment.
Camber is relatively easy, but not many posts info. about toe and it’s effect.
Just to be clear about toe.......
Some use angle
Some use distance (Me). Maybe old school/string method.
I Love this Sport...The Great friends I have met.
Thanks
