My 2018 and 2019 GT3 Touring's don't smoke (as others have also reported), so when some cars apparently do I'm not sure why it would be considered 'normal' other than a feel good statement. Metzger engines certainly were prone to this, but I've not had start up smoke in my various 911 variants from 2012 on.

When I have not started the car for about a month or so I will notice white smoke. Any subsequent start ups do not have any.

I let it idle for 30 secs or so before shut down. That eliminates the smoke issue for me.

3 of 4 GT cars smoked and the 2019 RS is the only one zero smoke, and I’ve not added a drop of oil after 1100 miles.

no particular rhyme or reason
must admit , it still catch me by surprise every now depending on the intensity of the smoke
probably related to when I was growing up, smoking cars are always trouble and something wrong with them

My 2019 gt3rs smokes sometimes , no specific reason or pattern and has used some oil during the first 1500 mi.

I’m not enjoying reading this thread after buying my supposedly “bulletproof” GT3... I hope I didn’t get a pos. I don’t do oil burners. I drove **** cars when I was a kid, don’t have any desire to drive one as an adult.

2018 GT3. I've never noticed any smoke. Has close to 7,000 miles now.

Just a guess but a boxter engine has cylinders horizontal vs. most other engines that are vertical or mostly vertical like a V8 or inline 6 etc. So oil perhaps rests in the cylinders without draining down out of the cylinders. Perhaps if hot enough at shut down oil can migrate beyond the rings to the cylinder head side of the rings (vs crankcase side). Not sure if this makes sense but just my guess.

Thanks for your opinion... I haven’t noticed mine smoke anymore after that initial startup smoke fest I witnessed after I washed it a week or so ago. I’ll keep driving the ole beater if it’ll keep running. 😬

Was your radiator smoking or engine?

It is common that after a wash that you could get white smoke pouring out of the front of the car.
