Default First drive in 991 Speedster

Hello everyone,

Heading overseas to drive the new Speedster in a couple of days, and while I was surprised and thankful to get the invite and will do something from it for 000, I want to share impressions on the car in real time with those here who are interested.

As always, I am less interested in discussions about price, ADM, etc. because a) I tend to find myself less and less interested in car conversations that revolve around price, b) I am ill suited to help someone else understand how that should work for them, and c) I have little of value to a subject I don't study. While it's a valid topic in light of the Speedster's...shall we say...."brave" pricing (esp in light of its distance from the 911R and proximity to the 991.2 GT2 RS) and thus an area of skepticism as I go into this, the flip side is my interest in the 991 Speedster and its experience for a simple reason: It's the first open-top car with a GT3 flat six.

So, as I prepare for the trip, I'll do what I've done in the past when covering something for 000: If you've got questions I can answer in real time from the event (so long as wi-fi, bandwidth, and clarity are available), I'd be happy to look for answers. No guarantees, but I've had pretty good luck in the past.

Best,

Very interested in this thread and looking forward to your partial(do not sell out on us) views on how it drives, steers, corners, engine noise ect ect compared to some current models.

Nothing to do with luck. He has been a Porsche promoter and journalist for many years. Dedicated, passionate and hard working. This is certainly earned.

Enjoy Pete! Looking forward to seeing if this car can top your non electric spyder drive up the CA coast.

I read somewhere that this engine will be in the 992 GT3. Or maybe I'm a bit sleep-deprived. Either way, I'm looking forward to your experience with this special car!

Subscribed and can't wait to hear your initial thoughts. Thanks in advance for allowing us to right seat "virtually" with you on this journey. I am interested in your impressions of how special this car is and how special you feel while driving the car. Is the driver open air GT experience epic making this a must own car. I drive my cars - they do not sit and that driver experience/engagement is everything to me.

A few easy ones:

Is the speedster engine the 992 GT3 engine? I.e., will the GT3 have ITBs? Pretty sure the answers are yes and yes, but curious how they'll respond.

What happened to the design features of the concept? Central fuel filler, Talbot mirrors, but also the wheel design that was, apparently, jettisoned.

I know Porsche is most likely mum on the subject of future vehicles, but will we see this engine again before the 992 GT3? Along those lines, is this the last 991 iteration?

And will you make it back in time for Luft?

Please ask if the Individual Throttle Bodies were necessary to compensate for the loss of power/response from the particulate filter?
