Drove by Porsche palm springs last night on vaca - looked like they had several GT cars in showroom, including 2 lizards. Will try to stop in today for pricing

Porsche doesn't underproduce. They made more 2018 GT3s than any other model. They have made more 2019 GT3RSs (so far) than they made Twin Turbos in all of 2018.

Anyone who wants to pay can get a GT3, in pretty much any color they like.

Why anyone would pay above MSRP for a GT car now is beyond me, when Porsche is telling everyone that cares to listen that they are not only expanding their GT lineup (with the 992) but will also produce them in record numbers. ADM is dead, long live MSRP...(I can only wish)

When I move on from my 2017 991.2 S in a year or two or three, I would seriously consider a MT 992 GT3, IF I could special order a GT3 "stripper"with very few extra cost options, at MSRP. The resulting price differential between it and a similarly equipped 992 S might be acceptable to me. ADM, or inability to spec a stripper, would turn me off the idea completely.

To put things in perspective, my current 991.2 S is a stripper, with its only extra cost option a sunroof that was included when I purchased it out of dealer stock and could have been dispensed with. I am perfectly contented without options, No track use now or planned in the future.

Let's hope Porsche cranks out enough 992 GT cars so that a rational purchase for actual enthusiast use, rather than flipping, makes sense.

One of the most basic laws in economics is the law of supply and demand. It is on display with the 991.2 GT3/GT3RS. Originally demand was greater than supply (ADM above MSRP possible), and now supply is greater than demand (cars selling under MSRP). The oversupply of these cars and the ownership by non-enthusiasts treating them as pure investments has even taken a toll on 991.1 GT3/3RS values.

Glad I resisted when I couldn't land a RS at MSRP last summer and had to settle for a TTS.

Both cars will be in the 120s after 992 comes out...depending on miles and the specs...

I’ve had a TTS. They are the most depreciating Porsche 911. Period. Doesn’t make them a bad car. Great value picking one up second hand.

That may be. I think the delta in depreciation between the two will shrink more than some expect since turbo production decreased and GT3 production increased.

Agree, saved about 45k on mine and have lost about 10k this past year in depreciation which is better than I thought based on current pricing/sales, condition, specs and mileage.

The 991.2 production was really reduced on the TTS...the base Turbo has about half or less of the production of the TTS with the 991.2 run....

Went to a local dealer last week to look at a 991.2 GT3RS with 500 miles. They wanted $50K over MSRP. Told them I had a factory allocation I could build for $20K. They came down to $27K. I said no... you don't understand. Why would I pay more for a used car, when I can get a new one for less? And a new one built to my spec? They came down to $20K. I said no... maybe you guys don't understand lol. I'm not buying a used car for the same price as a new one. You need to beat the price of a new car. They said no, $20K is the lowest they can go. I walked.

The other day they called me and said they could do MSRP. I said sorry, too late. A NEW car with the exact same spec just sold at your competing dealer across the street for MSRP. So now your used one needs to come down below MSRP. I could hear the salesman's soul shatter into pieces. He got real quiet and sad and was just lie... yeah ok well we'd lose too much money blah blah blah.

Default Gt3

It seems to me easy to explain porsche’s plan here. Heck, I remember when they were about to go under because nobody was buying the 911. Enter the Cayenne. Thank God, right? You guys want Porsche to make more GT cars so real drivers can drive them but not too many that they get too common. These decisions about production numbers surely are made years in advance. If I were their CEO I would be scared too of overproducing a 200k toy. Demand for such things drops to zero once the market corrects 15%. We complain about scarcity. We complain of dilution. My head hurts reading these posts. And I don’t particularly care for the mean spirited posts by one of the guys here. What the heck? We are here on the forums to talk about these great cars that are so much fun to drive!

This. I toss the keys to my friends and let them enjoy it as often as I can. And I cant wait to save up enough to get into a 1.2 GT3 and drive the wheels off of it on and off the track.
