My guns are way louder than my Carrera or my 924s unless I put the suppressors on them. And non of the above would be kosher in Cali. Guess I'll live happily ever after in Texas.

Cheers,

D.

Careful Debo18D. From what I've heard, Austin has become a favorite landing spot for the overflow citizens of the Republik. Don't let them mess with Texas ;-)

someone got their first ticket in the mail, no it's not $1000 (yeah the cop lied to get the message out) but only $200. The problem is no inspection is required, and you cant contest the ticket or go to court, which means you will probably still pay for the ticket even if the car is unmodified. There are other ways to schedule a hearing and contest it, but probably not worth the lawyer fee to get off a $200 ticket. I am sure sooner or later someone will find a way around this

Just a quick FYI- the CHP receives Zero (0) monies from the citations they write. Almost all of their operating costs come from a portion of the astronomical registration fees you pay.

lol - all this **** about $1000 and an inspection. I will gladly pay $200 for a non-fix it.

I find this hard to believe. This is the exact reason that all those red light cameras disappeared. You can't issue a violation without giving someone the right to defend themselves.

As far as the modified exhaust violators are concerned I think that it is about time that someone addressed it. They are obnoxious. I'm not talking about those that change the tone a little. I'm talking about the ones that make your ears want to bleed. It's just gross inconsideration for all others.

Yeah the first time, that's not too bad. However, I was told yesterday by a car dealer that is dealing with all this bull, that the second time the fine is more, and that the third time your car will be impounded. Additionally, when I left the dealer with my new truck yesterday, it already had "temporary" plastic plates affixed to the front and rear. The plates were assigned electronically by the DMV and the finance manager then printed them out and a dealership employee affixed them to the truck both front and rear. The DMV also assigned the window sticker electronically with a random number and once again the finance manager printed it out and a dealership employee put it on the windshield. The finance manager told me that as of January 1st of this year, all newly sold vehicles "must" have front and rear plates affixed to the vehicle when it leaves the dealership as well as the DMV assigned window sticker, with the random number, on the windshield. That's right guys, front and rear temporary plastic plates and a DMV window sticker, with a random number, must be affixed to a new Porsche GT car by the dealership prior to it leaving the dealership in California as of January 1st, 2019. The dealer told me that this is due to California loosing millions of dollars on the toll roads because people drive on them with just a car dealers marketing plate frame and logo plate.

They received a sound violation ticket through the mail?

The way I see it, police serve the community. I would like to see a correlation of community complaints on exhaust sound vs the enforcement of this law. If and if the CHP have had a spike in community complaints regarding excessive exhaust noise then I'm ok with the enforcement.

Interesting read. I'll continue happily not living in California because of stuff like this, but I also expect this to be more of a crackdown on the more...unreasonable and excessive offenders. The likelihood of someone getting this ticket and deserving it seems to be relatively high to me.

Supposedly this is about street racing. Here's an idea. Go arrest the street racers.

Half are illegals so the law doesn't pertain to them in California.

yes, similar to speeding ticket. CHP issued you a ticket and the fine comes in the mail (giving you due dates, fine amount, where to send it etc.)

Exactly, but red light cameras do still exist in other cities besides LA, as cities continue to milk ticket money until there's enough awareness that it isnt fair. So I think this law wont live very long or will get amended soon, or some lawyers will start a "group buy" to dismiss all the tickets altogether in a combined hearing. But for the time being, CA is very happy with the additional money.....
