991.2 GT3 manual or 991.1 GT3RS, you can only keep one.
Hello, It appears that both the last gen 991.1 GT3RS and the new 991.2 GT3 can be had for about the same money. I'm considering both, but without ample seat time its hard to make a clear decision. My use is 95% road and 5% track, so it will be mostly for the street. So I pose this question to people who actually OWN both OR have OWNED both cars or at least driven both cars extensively. If you had to keep only one, which would it be? I realize the gearbox's are quite different, but regardless for the people that have owned them, which was the favorite?
Finally, recently I've seen some good deals on the 991.2 GT3RS. For anyone thats owned/driven all 3 cars, would that change the outcome?
Thanks!

Not another one of these threads.....
991.2 GT3RS- What deals?????. You will be paying ADM- at least $30,000
.1 RS vs .2 GT3 - It really comes down to gear box and whether you want more attention in the RS- That simple. If you will be mostly street driving and like manuals I would take the .2. Plus the .2 has the newer iteration of the engine with 9000 redline.

Have owned 991.1 GT3, 991.2GT3 Touring, and have driven both 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 RS side by side with them on some great roads....
Manual box in .2 GT3 adds whole new dimension in driver engagement, and power/handling is close enough to .1RS that you won’t exploit on street. Having said that, the rapid-fire PDK-S shifts and more planted handling of RS is also fun, even on street.
For me, RS is too showy to drive around town except among friends and fellow enthusiasts, so that combined with the joy of a manual gearbox makes .2 GT3 manual a winner if can only have one and street is primary use.
IF you don’t have strong preference for manual and/or IF you either don’t mind the extra attention you’ll get driving RS or even like that kind of attention, then RS. And even if neutral on manual v PDK-S, if serious about track when there, certainly RS, with better aero / contact patch / steering / and PDK-S, will rule there.

Its really a question of shifting vs PDK. I drove stick shift Porsche'e for 20 years. That said, the Porsche PDK cars are amazing. Drive both for a day and then decide.
And agree the new .2 motor is something very special.

OP wasn’t asking about .2 GT3 RS. OP was asking about .1 GT3 RS v .2 GT3 manual. And he’s right, there are plenty of .1 GT3 RS for sale for well under $200K. In fact, it would seem one could get into a well spec’d under-10K Miles CPO .1 RS for $10K-$30K below a well spec’d .2 GT3. Porsche Beachwood alone has 4 of them....

While I didn’t have enough seat time (maybe 20 minutes each) to be definitive, I didn’t feel enough difference between the .1 and .2 GT3 RS to justify—for my own sake if I were going to buy one or the other—paying a lot more for a .2. Both cars had some modifications in terms of upgraded exhausts, etc, so maybe it wasn’t fair. Long story short, both were stellar cars. For a savings of $50K or more, which is the likely delta between a nice .1RS and new .2RS, I would save the money.

Thanks to everyone that has replied! To clarify I was not trying to create another manual vs. pdk debate. I've driven both, and they are both great, just different. My question arose more from the fact that both cars are now in the same price range, and I just wanted to see which car was more satisfying to people who had owned or driven both. Thus my question, if you can only keep one. Like everyone, just trying to keep it simple and purchase just one car. Thanks again for all the insight, its already been helpful, please keep the posts coming. Best!

To OP: 1RS have come down in price quite a bit where .2GT3's are still at or above msrp so financially the .1RS is probably the better deal in terms of less depreciation. Hopefully this is not your main consideration.
Can anyone make some comparisons between the .2GT and .1RS regarding ride and ground clearance differences?

I always play this game like time has passed by as I like to keep cars forever! So, would I rather have a 997.2 gt3 or 997.1 gt3rs? would I rather have a 991 gt3 or 997.2 gt3 rs? I do realize the transmission change is kind of huge but these newer GT cars are the only ones where I am indifferent. That is coming from someone who thought for the longest time I would ONLY buy manual, but changed my mind when I got a scuderia. I dont ever wish it was a manual as crazy as that sounds as I thought for sure I would prefer it. The fun factor is equal for me, now if the car is slow it cannot have an F1, that is painful to me. My 993 would be a total pos in my eyes if it was automatic, same with 997 gt3's, they just arent THAT fast, same with my M4. Once u pass 500hp....it is just different, I cant explain it. I guess it is so fast that it becomes weird to take that long to shift, It fits these super fast cars really well. I am DIE HARD manual too and I myself would go with the RS in your situation...it is just more special and they look so much cooler. Only thing I like more of the gt3 is just more inconspicuous and I do love manuals, car attention is the woat.
It is a coin flip, I get ur worry they are both epic. If ur using my system of FPD "fun per dollar" I am going to take a guess and say the the rs will be worth a lot more (20-40k) than the gt3 in 2-5 years. So I would fall on that side of the fence if I am being rational
