Kirby- Soul Side Muf Bypass + SW
Kirby- thanks for posting those videos on youtube. I currently have the Sharkwerks center bypass and feel its still a little too "tame"; how much louder is it with the SOUL side muffler bypass? Is it very noticeable? Do the side muffler bypasses change the character of the exhaust noise? Thanks!

Not concerned with increasing power. I want to see a dyno to see how much power is lost and where. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.
and if the mod didn’t affect someone’s track speed/time, then what’s the point again? Side bypass isn’t for sound right? It’s for weight reduction and reducing heat? To what end then if it had no affect on track?
and again I’m not picking on soul. This just happened to be the thread on the first page. Nobody really offers a dyno. Although a few companies do make a power increase claim on their product.

+1 on Soul customer service & quality as I've run their race headers on the 991.1 C4S before - reading up on the GT3 options now - will try to resist the temptation as long as I can.
Separately, I don't understand asking for dyno charts on a catback system where the vendor makes zero power gain claims. Money here would be spent on sound, if there are heat and weight gains, sure I'll take it. You have a customer who recorded the same speed at the end of a straight at a track he frequents - if there was a power loss, he'd likely see it on data. Very slight redistribution of the power curve due to different back-pressure, it's possible. Power gain, not possible, not claimed. Power loss, unlikely. I wish aftermarket exhaust shopping was always this straight forward.

Not picking on Soul in particular, (and I've heard that their product quality and service is superb) but I find it very suspicious that given the similar concerns of fourT6 and many other individuals about loss of low end torque with exhaust mods, that of none of the exhaust companies have published several dyno results of before/after exhaust mods! And someones butt dyno means about as much as a placebo effect, as this is all it is. I want science not personal anecdote.
I'm not looking for power gains, just not power losses. And I'm not going to spend the time and money on mods, particularly a side muffler delete largely for weight loss, if I don't know that I'm shooting myself in the foot by losing torque. I'd just keep it stock otherwise.
The major exhaust companies should take the time to publish before/after dynos with their side and center muffler deletes, to allay concerns about power loss, otherwise, I'll have to assume that all of their products reduce power while they are reducing weight.......

Hi John or Mike,
On your center bypass web page, I see pictures of black tips but there's only the brushed or signature satin options. How can I pick black tips?
edit: never mind, I refreshed the page and the black tips option showed up.

Does anybody have some videos of just our side muffler bypass pipes in action, or can take some? We'd like to have more reference videos of these in action for the community. Thank you!

2019 DE season with SOUL Side Muffler Bypass for 991 GT3
Last year in late fall of 2018 I had traded in my 911, 991.2 Targa for a 991.1 GT3. I was tracking the Targa and for my love of driving these cars at speed, I decided to go for the GT3. I put my first 100 miles or so with the stock set-up and put it to sleep for the next 3 months. Late winter I had visited the Soul guys in PA and decided to go with the SOUL Side Muffler bypass set-up. It sounded great and I had driven about 5-6 track days with this set up. I then signed up for a DE up in Le Circuit, Mont Tremblant in Canada. They had a strict 92 decibel policy and I did not want to make that long trip and have issues driving on track, getting black flagged to come off. It was true, they were literally picking guys with loud exhausts & black flagging them. I was fine because of getting my side mufflers re-installed before the event. I then drove almost the whole season with the side mufflers on for about 6 more track days with the stock set-up.
Finally, after mid Sept. I had some time to take car to shop to get the Bypass system re-installed. I did 2 track days at NJMP, Lightning last weekend. I felt like I had a different car! Forget the sound for a second, the side mufflers weigh at lease 30-35 lbs each! The heat they give off to the back tires is nuts. My tires with SMB after first run last weekend were 6 PSI less because of less heat. The car feels even more responsive to me, especially during maintenance throttle & around corners you not only hear that beautiful sound but feel the agility of that beautiful flat 6! I appreciate it more now then when I first purchased it and no more tracks with sound level meters! Hope this helps anyone on the fence with Side Muffler Bypass.
