Default WiFi in 2016 Porsche

Does anyone else know what this could be?
See pic.
I was searching for a WiFi network when i was in my garage, and when i opened the door of my car, a "Porsche" WiFi network appeared.

My car is the older PCM (2016) Does NOT have Apple Car Play etc.

Whats this network used for? How do i connect to it? There is no WiFi option in my car at all. Thanks

Thanks

This WiFi is for the Porsche connected track app, if you have the sport chrono pack this WiFi will let you connect to record lap telemetry. The password should be your vin number.

I tried the in and upper case and lower case
I also tried just the last 8 digits that didn’t work either

Perfect thank you

Now i just hate Apple. LOL

I managed to connect to it, but it appears Apple wont "connect connect" to it, as it doesnt have a internet connection. So i go into the porsche app, and it still shows as no connection! Grrr!!

Ohh well. The upshot of this is, i will probably never track the car, but i like all these little geeky things and exploring them..

If anyone has any tips, please chime in!

the wifi is only good for the Porsche precision app and is how the information from the car is transmitted to your phone...things like throttle, brake, steering angle etc.
Does not allow you to stream music...use bluetooth

You need to put a data plan on the SIM card via AT&T if you would like to use the PCM as a hotspot, otherwise Porsche has an app you can use to send addresses to the pcm.

No, i dont want to use the Car as a "data" hotspot, i just want to connect to this app, but iphone wont allow it.

While on the subject, i popped a sim card in the sim slot and it just says "Network search" with no avail.

Default WiFi connection

Hi, were you able to solve this? I have a GT3 with sports Chrono and I’m running into the same situation no Wi-Fi as your photo show. What was your work around and do you have to run the SIM card?
