GT3 - Best Pairing: 570s, Huracan, 458, or Nothing?

Burning Brakes
458 is fantastic. A friend owns an exotic rental car place, and his money making asset is a pair of 458s. One unit had 80k miles last time I visited him. Transmission was the weak point on previous generations until they got Getrag-DCTs across all cars.
They still suffer from sticky buttons and trims, but the fixes are now available. They sound awesome with a Kline muffler. No idea on the selling prices these days.
At the track, I cooked the brakes, I overheated the exhaust (Sebring) and the car went limp. Not a track day car unless you make some upgrades: replace rotors as the stock CCB are good for 10 track days, new wheels/tires, stiffer springs, sport cats, replace the stock muffler, wrap the headers to avoid cooking electronic sensors around the engine compartment, proper seats. By the time you're done making it track friendly, you could have purchased a better car. If tracking is the goal, plenty of F430 and 458 Challenge cars for sale.
As a street car, the 458 looks doesn't get old, and it is fantastic. Good partner for a GT3.

I’ve had them all.
Now have a Manual GT3 and a 570S.
I loved the 458 sound (had 2 of them), but my 570S has been more reliable and way more “special”.
My huracan got boring and the seating position was never perfect for me.
i wouldn’t be adverse to trading the 570S for another 458 though, the sound draws me back. The looks, the speed, and the updated tech make me keep it.
My plan, actually, is to trade the 570S for a 991.2 RS and have a Manual .2 GT3 and a PDK RS. Is that stupid or what?!

im a big fan of Mclaren history, sadly the cars depreciation, and in my case reliability, and the cars clinical precision made me sell. lucky enough to tour factory last spring.

Are the 458 reliable if putting 10 000 miles every year but use it for spirited city and highway driving with no race tracks?
Would buying a 7 year old 458 with 30-40 000 miles on it be headache in comparison to 2-3 year old 570S? Or would 458 be similar in terms of reliability?

You can't go wrong with any of these really. They all have different tastes. It always depends what people are going for: the sound, external appearance, brand/model history, internal appointments and comforts, drama visually or drive-wise. Each of these brands has different levels of these factors. I know for me the way the car sounds is extremely important. Not as critical of internal luxury. I would estimate the McLaren buyers have less desire for sound and more technology and external uniqueness/similarity. Ferrari buyers tend to seem to have a tendency for brand history/identity and generally the cars seem to have a greater sense of internal quality of materials (leather etc.) including the variable choices available if selected from build start. Lamborghini greater sense of sound interest and driving or visible drama in general. There's so many good options. I've said it elsewhere but I think everyone can pick his/her mission goals with the vehicle and fit into the categories here pretty well.

These two cars are different, it is correct.
What I like about 458 is the sound and the gear shifts feel. That is what 488 is missing. And I just don’t care that 488 is significantly faster. The 458 gives more emotions while driving it. That is what I am seeking for. Other aspects like being a car of Ferrari brand is a more a disadvantage for me, but this can be fixed buying a black or dark grey 458.
The 570s doesn't have Ferrari badge, which is a good thing for me. 570s is a better driver’s car in terms of handling and if pushing the car hard. But the sound is a very strong disadvantage in comparison to NA 458.
My understanding was that a 7 year old 458 will be significantly less reliable than the one-two year old 570s. If this is not the case then I believe 458 would be my choice.

That is extremely rare. In fact I don't think I have ever heard of a bad cylinder head (or any major engine issue) on a 570S. Random electronic glitches, the occasional coolant fitting, windshields, but not major engine issues. Very strange. OTOH, that's exactly why I buy the extended warranty, and would for any supercar, regardless of brand.

I say go for the 458 it’s a special car, and every man should own a Ferrari once if possible the sound is amazing. A V8 that runs up to 9k RPM is insane. I sold my 2016 RS and missed it, but when I started it up in the morning nothing like it go 458. Now sold the 458 for the 675LT a turbo that revs to 8500 and sub 3k lbs just amazing. I miss the Italian leather and V8 sound, but the 675LT drive wise check all the boxes. But I did miss the RS so I think I have the perfect pair ..........get the 458. Here’s my damage the last 4 years and I’m left with 2 keepers RS and 675LT:
