Do you have a real job?

Great read. Thanks for sharing everyone.
A little about me. I was always a numbers and problem solver, since kindergarten. In high school I interned for a CPA for two weeks before I decided that was boring and no way I could do that... a couple years later I was a controller and then CFO. O well. I guess I’m an accountant in denial. Today, I’m a Managing Director for a Family/PE office with a focus on M&A of a broad range of industrial companies, sometimes acting as the CIO, CFO, COO. With basically an absentee owner, I have a lot of responsibility and freedom. I make money not accepting no, or ‘that’s not possible’ as acceptable answers. Give me your box and and the end game. I can get there.
Grew up as the baby of the family, with a dad who worked three jobs when I was a kid so mom could be at home with the kids. Nothing was inherited, and I paid for every last thing including school while starting a family. It’s been a great run. Cars are my little escape and reward.

I'm also a "retired, non-pro skateboarder". By this I mean I bought a skateboard in my 20s because I found out you can't get a dui on a skateboard but discovered that while you can ride a skateboard TO a bar fine, the ride BACK involves many falls om hard concrete. So I no longer ride the skateboard.

Born outside the states, had a blue-collar childhood and spoke nary a word of English before middle school. Parents gave me the best values and a good education, but not a dime beyond that (not that they could afford). Two decades later I manage funds and invest on behalf of institutions. "Investing" is euphemism... "hustling" is more reality.
Took some of my first hard-earned dollars to buy an RS because it was orange (stupid but true). Then one thing happened after another and these days I get racing bills coming in faster than my bank manager can say "waaaat"

Instead of giving me everything, my parents gave me a strong work ethic and a little smarts. Car guy for as far back as i remember. Bought first Porsche in my late 30's. Now trying to figure out how to retire earlier so i can ride all day.

I am manufacturing exec that runs two large commercial HVAC plants. They both operate 24-7, 7 days a week so I work a minimum of 60hr a week. This is only my 5th year as a exec an still getting use to the grind and operation and daily struggles of millennial labor workforce. Feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be in my position at this point in life which also allows my family and I the opportunity to enjoy the less important but finer things in life. Wife is very supportive of my work-life and also lets track 10 - 12 times a year for my work detachment.
