991.2 steering in 991.1
it can be done I just replaced my 991.1 steering to 991.2 , it is not that hard its plug and play , you need to take some processions, like unplug battery so you don't end up exploding airbag in your face ]
small opening under steering that you need to push with screw driver to pop off airbag
T55 torx bit
painted Matt black to finish the look
wiring purchased from dealer
just plug inn harness
feels good seems smaller and paddles feels smal and shorter throw

Nice work brother... i have been wanting to do this for a while but was not sure it would work until you posted in the GT group that it did work
I will do this if i end up not trading in my car for a touring if i do the trade then no point to spend more money modifying the car if it will go within 1-6 months

Well done Alfalasi, love retrofit projects. Thank you for sharing!
Just to add for anybody else planning to attempt this. Porsche recommends this bolt to be replaced whenever the steering wheel is removed as a safety precaution. The bolt is negligible in costs and should just be replaced with a new one for peace of mind.

Amazing upgrade. I am planning to do something similar on 970.2 Panamera GTS which has sport steering wheel. Since you have gone through a similar experience, can you please provide feedback on the following
1. Where did you buy the steering wheel with alcantara? Its really awesome looking
2. Suppose I buy 971 Panamera MF steering wheel with heating. Will heat capability work on my Panamera since it never had heated steering wheel?
3. Will the buttons on multi-function steering wheel work with programming? Or should I order non-MF since I have the sport steering wheel currently?

SGR Automotive sells plenty of GT steering wheels and matching airbags at fair prices for you to pursue this upgrade.
No, RS steering wheel has no heating nor MF functions. If you decide to upgrade and it does work without any problems, you will need to give up all the luxuries and features.
