Default Castrol Engine Oil

Has anyone experience and/or knowledge between Castrol DWS 10W60 and Castrol Edge Gold 10W60?

Thanks.

I’ve not used either, what is the application? Is either an A40 Porsche approved oil?

Isn’t it TWS?

Anyway, the BMW M folks are all over the 10w60 oils and you might want to check the bobistheoilguy forums for info.

I have used the DWS in several Porsches and BMWs. Was wondering if the Edge Gold was an improvement or if either was better than Mobil 1 15W50 which was the original factory fill in my first Porsche.

I have run Mobil 1 5w50 in my 991.1 GT3 and RS and plan to do so in my 991.2 RS. My BMW E36 race car likes 15w50 or it won’t make enough pressure when hot, but the tolerances really don’t compare. Having spoken with one of the Mobil 1 Engineers that supports the Porsche RSR factory teams, I don’t see a reason to experiment beyond the approved oils list.

15W50 is for air cooled Porsches.
