And the EPA (which expires 12/31) and especially euro emissions (which has already expired) mean it would need particulate filters.

I'm confused about EPA and particulate filter.

Is regular GT3 done with production in 2018 and they are adding filters on GT3 Cab starting from 2019?

All indications are GT3 is done 12/31 (its done for euro as of sept I believe) and because it is a new model, under euro any GT3 cab/speedster will need particulate filters as soon as they start making them.

First they came for the wings, then they came for the roofs...

Thanks!

Thought it would be GT3 + option package like Touring but I guess that won't make sense.

There is a huge gulf between what M and AMG have done (essentially marketing appearance packages/wheels/badges) and fitting a motorsports engine into something without a roof (or a wing -- the 964 RS did not have a wing). No reason there can't be a cabrio or speedster GT3 (although I suspect neither will be named GT3 which should placate all you name mongers). Regardless, every generation 964, 993, 996, 997, 991 the GT3 and RS cars are drifting farther away from the race cars and there is nothing we can do about that with the sea of regulations out there.

Says you. Cabs sell well and if they can take aero and the wing off a GT3 and sell out then why not make it a complete non race car and make it a cab. Those too will sell out. Enough people never will even go to the track. The GT3 has gone a long way from being a de-tuned, street legal cup car, might as well go all the way and sell those all out and give the flippers another limited edition to make a killing on.

Heck, I'd take a GT3 cab with the big wing! If the Performante can do it, why not the GT3. Sign me up.

Does this new model negatively affect the current car(s) in your garage?

Does it negatively affect the amazing other cars Porsche produces and we all love?

I personally won't buy it, for my climate - but if I ever move, ..would be amazing
Exactly. I think many who oppose a GT3 drop top are mainly concerned with preserving exclusivity, GT 'ethos' and resale value. The more people who have access to these great vehicles, as well as choices to suit their lifestyle needs, the better (in my opinion).

Porsche knows their cars are good and offer exceptional value. Most won't abandon the brand because of this decision and if they do, it's their loss.

Dark, considering point of manufacturer, but very amusing on several levels nonetheless.
