I said it I the last thread about that pic and I’ll say it again. That is the first good looking cab Porsche has ever made. But I thought it was a Speedster mule.

another step on the full mass marketization of the gt car brand... what used to be hard edged drivers cars are now luxury possessions/image statements...
that being said, it is very hard to blame PAG... they are first and foremost master capitalists, and as a business the time to cash in is NOW -- economy still good, who knows when it will falter, heavy weight hybrids, full electrification, autonomous vehicles on the horizon, ever tightening regulations worldwide... if it were my business i would be doing this too - to hell with history and old aged brand loyalists with long memories

All the hate. I see this as no different than the Touring model. Same complaints/philosophy can be applied to why would you take all the aero off a race car. Many people don't track the car so if you want a stealthy wingless GT3, why not a Cab. Too each there own but I bet they will sell.
On the other hand I do see a big philosophical difference between a GT3 Cab and the Touring. The performance difference between a manual winged GT3 vs a Touring is essentially indistinguishable for nearly every US owner. Even on a the fastest corners of a track like Laguna Seca (ie 6) you'd struggle to carry .5 mph more speed in the winged car. Any difference between the two would be in practice swamped by things like fuel load, option boxes ticked, or the age, type and pressure of the delivery tires (MPSC2 vs DSMR2). The driving experience (other than subtle differences in noise or a wing blocking the rear view) will also be indistinguishable.
Thus in practice the Touring is a cosmetic package, where the Cab goes far beyond cosmetics. It will decrease chassis rigidity dramatically, increase weight and reduce on-track safety. So while I'm sure it will be a great car I'd agree with those who say it shouldn't be called a GT car.

I am happy to have them make it. Maybe they can make a Targa version too.
The more 991 GT3s on the used market in a couple years - more likely they will come down to a price that us mere mortals can afford....

if the Taycan proves to be very good, then I'm not sure if I will keep buying gasoline cars. Also, I'm not sure how long I should keep my current gasoline cars for...

Being able to have the top down while banging through the gears at 9,000 RPMs in the mountains? That would be incredible.

"GT3" used to be a designation for a homologated race car. That lineage has drifted further and further from the street cars.
Now, it seems GT3 is a "line" just like "turbo" "carrera" etc...
They kinda/sorta did this with the Spyder... which is mostly a GT4 with no lid. and frankly, its awesome.
Slap that motor in everything! Margin baby!
