Thoughts on these Center lock bolts?
Any thoughts on the condition of this bolt? All four look similar. 20k miles total with 2500 track miles. At first glance I thought they looked pitted but closer inspection it looks like a build up. Thought perhaps corrosion but the deposit is quite hard. I see something similar on the wheel mounting cone but less pronounced. Maybe it is coming from the paste being heated and compressed? Anyone else seen this? Any concern? Thinking of replacing them but only have 2500 track miles and they're not scheduled to replace until 6k. Thanks for any comments.

I don't think you can ignore those other miles and just count the 2500 towards the 6000. IIRC it would definitely have to be a combination.

^Thanks, but the track supplement manual is clear the bolts are to be replaced at 6000mi of track use. Anyway, it's definitely buildup from the paste. I carefully chipped a little off in one spot. I didn't want to use any abrasive so tried a little denatured alcohol and that removed much of the buildup at least to where they are smooth to the touch. So greased them up and back on the car. Will check them at next wheel swap.
I do wonder if the paste has changed. When I got the car I ordered Optimol TA and used that and never noticed any residue. When I reordered from Suncoast I got Molub Alloy TA. It's described as a Porsche part. Looks and feels the same but I wonder. Just another reason these things are a pain.

When was the last time you disassembled the nuts and clean/regrease them? It's not just the surface. Look in the 997 GT3 forum, at the top of the page is a sticky that links to the document on how to inspect the CL's. I have copy of the document for thee 991,and it pretty much the same as the 997.

For road use there is no replacement schedule. For track it's 6k mi for bolts and rear hubs/bearings, 12kmi for front hubs bearings.
