Default Wet weather touring in a Touring

When touring in the Touring on stock Dunlop/Michelin tires, are there any great concerns when you encountered periods of rain on highways or city streets?
Weather forecast is calling for much needed rain over the next 4 or 5 days and we are just heading out for a road-trip.

Be aware and drive a bit more conservatively or slower with more even steering movements..... basically the same as when it rains with other tires......got caught in 2 thunderstorms with the GT and slowing down to speed limit helps......had no issues with hydroplaning or slipping driving sensibly in the rain...enjoy the trip.......watch out for the other guys.....I had heard the car with these tires was slippery, but I had no experiences at speeds from 45 to 75mph cruising on rural roads and highways...

Depends on your tire age, tread depth, rain intensity and the ambient temp. Fresh tires + warm temps and things are decent as long as it’s not raining buckets. If your tires are worn or it’s cold you’ll be ice skating, and will need to drive accordingly. Warm, light rain is an order of magnitude better. What’s the forecast?

Tires are just broken in w/3,000kms.
Lots of rain forecast in Quebec City along with thunderstorms over the next 4 days but the weather is warm and humid.

Thanks!

I need to remember to be careful when my car arrives. My last P car was a TTS with just ludicrous amounts of all-weather traction. I have a feeling it would be very easy to quickly get in trouble in the GT3.

Depends, what color is your car? PTS? CXX option list?

Last week I drove in a heavy downpour on a desolate road (HWY 30) in Northern Utah, and water was accumulating on the road in the 2 low spots where your tires usually are. It hydroplaned quite a bit, but these were extreme conditions. As long as I kept it under about 45 MPH, it was manageable. The Cup 2's aren't the best under these conditions.

It’s a car not a suede handbag.

Haha,
Hilarious thread! In New Zealand, one's GT3 spends 1/2 the time running in the rain, if you drive it that is. The new Cups are better, on 2 lane in rain if I'd be running 180-200 kmh in the dry, I'm running 140 kmh [with drainage]. If it's standing deep, chill!!! Free car washes are good!

Chris88 - 45 mph on the 30! what a bummer and needed with no drainage! In 1992 in the dry there Ive had an f15 flyover and wing tip me at 155 mph in a 1990 C2 S Cab, an elk standing on the road is visible miles ahead, a fun road.

Just keep in mind you’ll be more prone to hydroplaning it than nearly every other car on the road, which have skinnier tires and much more tread void area. Swallow your pride and forget about keeping up with traffic in a downpour and you’ll be fine.

What is everyone's go-to tire for the shoulder seasons? i.e. Cooler weather / road surface temps, with some rain mixed in.

Curious if those types of tires run quieter too, given all of the hubbub surrounding the Touring's interior noise levels

OMG - ex-kiwi here. Can't imagine what a GT3 would have cost down there and driving on the road must be excruciating trying to keep to the speed limit with the ultra low threshold they have for giving tickets / demerit points. I miss a lot about NZ but driving there definitely isn't one of them.

FYI I drive my GT3T on a road trip from Atlanta to NY and had some really bad weather on a couple of days. It's not too bad. As others have noted you just need to be a little sensible. It's not like driving slicks on a wet race-track or anything that bad.
