Would this GT3 have had an engine replacement?

It's easy - just check with the dealer. The replacement should be in the system.
Sorry, I was not clear in the initial explanation. All '14 had engines replaced for the connecting rod fastener issue. But some/many new '14 and '15 engines seem to suffer from finger follower issues, and eventually fail and are replaced (no questions asked) with 16+ version of the engines. If you get '15 with engine that has not been replaced, it likely means you may at some point get a new engine, and if the engine was replaced, it's likely the new 16+ version, which has some parts redesigned and seems reliable.
My replaced '14 engine failed catastrophically due to finger follower issue. Valve got bent, and the engine jumped timing and punctured the head and spilled oil all over Sonoma raceway. Luckily I did not crash. Porsche opened the engine and confirmed it was finger-follower issue - one of them was scored to the point of valve stem damaged from friction heat. They gave me a new 16+ engine just a couple of days later - either airfreight or they had it locally.
So non-replaced engine would be slightly worse than replaced, because there is a higher chance you will need to go through the replacement. But the replacement is a painless process, and, as posted above, usually it's not a catastrophic failure but rather a check engine light. With 10-year engine warranty, I would not worry in either case.

I know of one instance where a GT3 had the cvers off after a decent numbers of miles, and the top end looked like new. My 2015 GT3 has 27,500 miles and still runs strong. As PAG stated in our meeting, not all GT3’s will suffer finger follower failures. It depends on a variety of factors. Any 2014, 2015 and 2016 can have the problem, but failure is not guaranteed for any year. In fact, the chances any engine will fail is pretty small.

I think in 10-20 years the original motor cars will be more desirable. For the current market I am not sure either.

I am considering buying a 7K mile 2014 GT3 with the original engine - at least that is what the dealer is telling me. Minimal track time from what I can tell. Should I be worried about engine failure? Thoughts of spilling oil down the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca and crashing haunt my dreams.

Thanks for posting. Good to know the car is not on the list. So, I take it that the engine was most likely replaced before shipping which takes care of the bottom end issue but perhaps not the finger follower, correct, not or depends?

2014s have the finger follower exposure but are covered by the longer engine warranty. Suggest check the build date, and in-service date. Also I'd check the maintenance records. A MY 2014 car should be due for the 4 year service including the drive belt, spark plugs and brake flush. (I just had the 4 year service on my 2015 and it was $2k without the plugs.)

Actually isn't that the list of the buybacks? The "location" is the auction location PCNA sold the cars. These 20 cars have the branded titles.
There were more cars in owners hands that had engines replaced.

My 2014 had the replacement at 5 miles, before it was sold it appears. I have a very clear letter from Porsche stating the replacement, and the dealer was able to document it in the system as well, so there should be no mystery on resolving whether the car you are looking at had it done or not by Porsche.

I bought a 2014 and the engine was replaced at purchase.
Now I'm getting mis-fires. Engine light and RED reduced power message. at 17,000 miles. Only one track day in 2016
They did 'swaptronics' with coil, and spark plugs at the dealer.. Replaced the spark plugs, Then said there was carbon build up on the ports. So had those ports cleaned by a german mechanic.
After driving. The engine light and reduced power light came back on. Took to mechanic and he said there is a 'misfire' codes so recommended take to the dealer.
Called dealer and asked about the 120,000 warranty related to mis-fires and finger follower.
He said they would look at it and have the tech figure i out. I
asked him specifically what the warranty says. He said it's 11 pages and covers 86 parts.
I'm not sure if this misfire problem is related to the finger-follower/cam issue, or something else.
If it is, it sounds like the cam will wear, and those small metal parts will circulate thru the engine which is not good.
I just hope i don't have to argue this back and forth with the dealer. If it needs a new engine and they try to get out of it, or have me spend $10k in diagnostics befire they figure it out.
please advise if you have any information.
