what USB cable do I need for this - gonna buy a long USB cable to leave "hanging" on my roll bar so I can talk to the device with out crawling into the back again…

USB-A to USB-Micro or USB-Mini?

ok - I've ordered mine - I'll report my findings - thanks to all for your advice…

I'll plan to remove the passenger seat for install (since I have a roll bar) - any special advise for passenger seat removal - never done it - I have LWBS w/harnesses
thanks to @drdonger I've ordered a long USB cable so I'll just leave it dangling for easy access for firmware updates and what not
I'm guessing I'll need a windows machine to talk to the box?

anyone have thoughts on storing the OEM controller?

For seat removals, need E sockets or E Torx, then easy

You'll need a E12 socket. There are four bolts that hold the seat rail to the floor. Slide the seat to gain access to those bolts. The two bolts on the front are covered by plastic trim pieces, they pop off with a small flat blade screwdriver.
Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Unplug the large yellow connector under the seat.
Once he seat is unbolted the way to take it out is tilt the top out of the cabin first, then lift the seat out. I recommend using few layers of masking tape on the door sill to prevent getting scratches from the bottom of the seat rails.

Yes, the DSC software requires Windows7 or 10. If you don't have a Windows PC and don't mind having a used PC then I've found this company(link below) have good deals on refurbished PC's. I have personally bought three PC's from this company that I take to the track for video, data, DSC, and Durametric use.

I would store the OEM controller inside the supplied DSC protective box. Away from moisture of course.

ok - we're installed - man that's a pain in the *** with the GMG roll bar - but it's installed - only thing is I can't get device to show up on USB bus - but it might be my cable

Question: does the device come ready to use with a baseline for 991.2 GT3 - or do I have to actually get it to connect to the DSC software and do an initial install - PSAM button works as expected - no noticeable differences as of yet - but we'll be testing at Laguna Seca this weekend!!

I assume that TPC installed the default maps for you, but you should check with Tom or Mike?

Did you attach the DSC to your PC before installing, did it work then?

Tom - I know it’s not the intended purpose, but can you comment on what the DSC can do for a softer ride on the road? Could this be programmed?

I think that you've got to connect with the DSC after it's installed and initialize it. The controller must establish the baseline suspension height at each corner.

In the DSC software, did you try selecting each COM port? I recall using COM 4 when I had a DSC V2.

Your new unit will have the latest software (Dec 2107) for "Porsche GT cars". It seems that it uses the same file for the 991.1, 991.2, GT3, and GT3 RS.

I do a lot of autocross, where the difference between fist and second place is usually less than 0.05 seconds. I tried the DSC V2 controller for over a dozen runs hoping for a 1% improvement (0.07 seconds). But... I was 1.5 seconds slower! The out-of-the-box DSC settings for the GT3 in sport mode didn't do it for me. I looked into the user programming features and quickly concluded that it would take way too much time and trail-and-error testing to get it even close to the factory GT3 sport mode. I think that I would have kept the DSC, if it had come with a file that replicated "the factory PSM" which I could then tweak to tailor it to my autocross needs.

I realize that autocross is not the same as DE. A lot happens in a 70 second autocross and the turning, braking, acceleration is rapid fire.

That said, I liked the DSC controller in non-sport mode. The suspension felt the same but the harsh ride over bad pavement was noticeably smoother.

PS I did set up my old 964 RS with Motec using throttle position and sensors for the map. I do like the idea of being able to adjust and set it up how you like it, but not sure how user friendly this is (I have set up bump and rebound dampers before, but a lot of trial and error)

Curious how those that have gone the DSC route are feeling about it on 991.2s specifically? Just took delivery of mine last week and putting some thought into this. Have always been curious but don’t have direct experience it.
