If FAL fails on a GT3 991.2, does everything else still work?
#16
I just checked on the 991.2 GT3 configurator. On the information for FAL, it says "Hydraulic function for raising the front axle......."
However, the manual talks about "compressed air", as well as "hissing sound", and in parenthesis (GT3 only). My GT3 does have a hissing sound when you lower the front axle.
It seems the configurator for the GT3 is wrong and gives rise to confusion, and that the 991.2 GT3 FAL is indeed pneumatic and not hydraulic.

Seems like this piece may have more issues than others. I’m debating on putting it on my RS allocation and I’ve read a few posts from rennlisters that have had theirs go out.
Im not worried about the issue if it happens immediately but if it goes out after warranty- down the road will this option be looked as upon as a “paper weight” to a track light weight focused car.
I’m also spending 18k for the Weissach Package to reduce weight by 13lbs or so. If one were to spec the FAL you’d be PAYING to add 15.4lbs back in.

That is what I was referencing was the GT3 configurator which says hydraulic. The GT3RS says electro pneumatic or something.
I an still not sure how it works. Air gets pushed into the shock to raise it? Electric air compressor? Or is there some hydraulic accumulator that is filled with air and the hydraulic shock fluid raises the front?

Not thrilled about needing a new strut at less than 200 miles, but it is what it is.

diagram's look similar with all the same parts, just different part numbers. Once the PET for the GT3RS is out we will be able to see.
At this point, I suspect that maybe things are being lost in translation.

It's only half of that in the .2 RS, according to Porsche (they mentioned reducing FAL lift weight by 50%). But neither would matter - it's extra 2.5 gallons of gas for the old lift and half that for the new one - no one could feel or measure that difference.

Nobody can feel or measure the difference of 15 lbs? Or even half that? Yet Porsche gear heads go nuts for things like a sticker instead of a real badge on the front hood and instead of interior door handles you get "lightweight" fabric door pulls?
