AP mentioned this to me at Goodwood 2 years ago discussing 1 GT# oiling issues. Never followed up to ask why but I believe I wrote a more detailed version the day I spoke with him. He mentioned no prolonged idling due to some oil issues on .1 GT cars. We know how that turned out.

Well it is best to change the oil warm or hot (as long as you don’t burn yourself). But remember, everything has an economic impact. It’s best to drive the cars to warm them up, but that costs time, so they idle the engines instead.

Honestly, many things dealers do are not optimal. And in fact, if something breaks on the car under warranty, many dealers get paid to do the repair.
