I think the 991.2 GT3 Touring is going to look even better (if that is possible) when the 992 rolls around. It is going to look small(ish), it will have the classic 911 lines compared to the 992 (especially when looking at the rear). And the 991.2 is going to feel so comfortably retro to an analogue guy like myself. No doubt, the 992 Touring will beat the 991 Touring in a race, but I'll never, ever push my car to its limits anyway. I am sure the take rate will be higher for the 992 Touring as it will likely be available from the get-go, unlike with the 991 rollout.

I'm not sure they're going to be readily available. The engines are made by a different group, plus they'll be NA - so production will be limited, ADMs will be around again and so will the feeding frenzy.

By the time the 992 comes out, a lot of the .2s will have more miles and so when people want to trade in - and some certainly will either for a new one or to have something different, supply will go up and Adam Smith, if he were alive would suggest prices on the .2s will come down .

Exactly, Porsche has decided to ***** out the racing breed and the GT3 is now a product line of its own.
Somebody here said it succinctly, less is now getting charged for more.
Expect a lot more Tourings and further GT3 variants - besides, aren't there already 20 variants of the standard 911 cars?

Looks like they are following in the footsteps of what AMG did by diluting and mass producing whilst cashing in. So many AMG variants now it's hard to keep up.

I think it's hilarious that owners of the 991 GT3...the biggest, most technologically advanced, cushiest and daily-driveable 'Cup car for the street' (please) made in by far the highest numbers to date...are criticizing the next model...which we know very little about...for being too big, modern, and overproduced.

Porsche's market has changed over the decades. They are catering to an entirely different market than they did as recently as 20 years ago. Porsche does not build cars just to please purists; they build cars to make money, and no one does that better than Porsche.

I get that, but I’m not arguing a purist standpoint. I’m hardly that guy. Every new generation of car had gripes from the previous generations fans, ie 964 guys hating 993, 993 guys hating 997.

I’m talking about new target audience. These 991 threads. It’s an entirely difference audience. 991 / 992 rennlist chats are now mirror images of FChat.

Thank you. Couldn't agree more. The jump from 991 to 992 is miniscule compared to jump from 997 to 991 - longer wheelbase, larger dimensions, less rear engined handling, rear axle steering, electric steering, panny/luxury interior with bunch of buttons in center console, no real hand brake, no real keys, pdk optional in GT cars, DI in GT cars all happened in the jump from 997 to 991.

So really don't get all this talk of 991 being some high water mark in "analoginess". Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but it is not. It is a very capable car in the continuum of 911's evolution. Just like 992 will be even more so.

Sunnyr - Beg to differ. The 992 will assuredly have a digital dash with the exception of the tach. The center console buttons will be gonzo. The rear end will be Kardashianesque. Let's face it, the GT cars take many interior and exterior cues from the Carrera line. If you think the interior of the GT3 and RS will be markedly different from the Carreras, I am afraid you are going to be disappointed. With the exception of the nubbin, which AP and his team smartly appear to have thrown in the trash bin. Thankfully, mule shots show the GT3 with a 991-style PDK gear shifter. Whether the 997-991 changes are greater or less than the 991-992 changes are debatable and will remain so, even after the 992 GT3 is debuted. For instance, I see more similarities in the 997 and 991 Carrera (interior and exterior) than I see in the 991 and 992 Carrera. But that is just me. Quantifiably, the 991 Carrera was faster (and lighter and bigger) than the 997. The 992 is faster (and heavier and bigger) than the 991 Carrera. It will be interesting to see if AP can trim some weight off the 992 (particulate filter and all) to make it lighter than the 991. I would not put it past him. But it will be bootylicious, if that is your thing, and it will be very digital on the interior.

Not sure that’s the point here. Porsche isn’t what it was after the 991. Everything has changed. Sales tactics, target audience, etc.

Go to any Porsche meet. Longhood guys are no different from 964, 994 and 997 guys.

991/992? I’d say 20-30% of the owners are enthusiasts who just love the new cars or upgraded. The rest? Generally cheese. Gouda cheese.

Don’t agree. But that’s ok. It’s not right to bunch 991/992 owners like that. Additionally, I have seen a difference between air cooled and h20. But, I have all and don’t really care.
