Default Best reader for 991.2 GT3 since durametric isn’t supported?

anyone know the best option that has comparable features to the durametric, like over rev counters, clearing codes etc?

Are we expecting that Durametrics will work after an update at some point for the .2s? Or has something fundamentally changed that would preclude this from happening?

durametrics confirmed to me they are working on .2 but no timeline.

Anyone know of a less expensive option that PiWIS?

Hope they offer support for Macs as well, instead of just Windows.

You'll be waiting a long time.

Just run a windows vm with vmware fusion. Works fine. I doubt native is going to happen, they use ,Net

Correct, a vm works fine for durametrics. Not for a flash as they don’t play nice. Just really want something to see DME stats, over runs etc.

I have the dated iCarsoft i960 for Porsche that I used for my .1 GT3. It seems to work fine with new .2 GT3. I am not sure if this can read over revs, but it does bunch of things including reading operating hours, clearing codes like airbag light, etc. They got a newer and better version out now. They list the main supported functions online, but you may want to call them to see if the new unit can support what you are looking for. The good thing about these is that they are plug and play.

So I updated my iCarsoft i960 to the newest version. Now the device is giving me the full DME report on my .2 GT3, including misfire, camshaft, timing, engine load, idle info, etc, etc. I cannot find the over rev information though. There is so much stuff that I'm not sure where to look. Which part of DME is usually the over rev info listed under? And what does engine roughness mean, does anyone know?

Anyway, I think this tiny reader is great and will give you what you want, especially considering the price. Costs only $113 on Amazon.

it sounds pretty good from your write up. Durametrics gave a Porsche specific count of over revs in 5 stages. It was in the engine module section of that tool. I’m not sure if anyone provides this besides durametrics and PIWIS?

Reading the q&a from the seller on amazon they say it can’t read over revs, etc. they recommend durametrics which obviously doesn’t work for .2. Anyone know what PIWIS would cost and how to buy it?

Sounds like it's just an ODBII reader, all of those values are available in the ODB profile for emissions diagnostics. The over revs are Porsche specific and a ODBII reader won't be able to access.

I plugged my Duranetric cable into my .2 GT3 tonight. I can read certain modules. It appears I might even be able to reset the service intervals. However, for some modules, including the engine module, there is no info other than the type and version of module, I'll post screenshots tomorrow.

thanks for the info. It seems durametrics has only reverse engineered PIWIS II not III which is what you need for .2, hopefully they’ll figure out III in the next year
