Old news. The article doesn't appear to have any new info that wasn't published about a year ago. ****ty business if they were doing it.

From my understanding of the article...
The DEIS tool does a lot of things, one of which can reset the odometer. Each use of the tool (to do anything) requires approval from Ferrari. So yes, Ferrari knew it could be done, but no tech is going to Ferrari for approval specifically to "roll back the mileage." They went to Ferrari for approval to use the tool to service a customer's car. With most vehicle functionality being controlled by a computer, I don't think it is a strange thing that an odometer can be reset.
That's my take.

Yeah, the title of the article is misleading clickbait and the author of the article is making assumptions. All that memo says is that the tool had that functionality. It doesn't say that Ferrari approved dealers to use that functionality at will.
