A lot of us on this thread are likely very familiar with the GT3 and it’s driving characteristics. Some, however, are new to the GT3 and perhaps don’t completely understands the cars purpose and appeal. Let’s give the OP a break and let him get more acquainted with the car . Let the car break in as it should loosen up and get faster. It’ll obviously never have the torque of a turbo or forced induction car but it’s still really fast. The GT3 is a true drivers car and it’s more about the screaming engine redline at 9k and the feel of the ride and handling characteristics. The car is still a Low 11 sec car with a 125-128mph trap speed. Hardly a slouch. It just gets there differently. The GTS May have more low end torque but it’s not a faster car on the track or in a straight line. Good luck to the OP and hopefully you’ll learn to love the car as much as many of us in this forum.

So I'm still really curious about this, compared to a 991.1 GT3 RS with PDK, as that's the only GT car I've driven. I didn't think that car had any issues at all on the street, as far as gearing and low-end torque were concerned. This was with the PDK in manual mode 100% of the time. Compared to that, how does the 991.2 GT3 compare?

Yeah, I just kept the GT3 RS in one gear lower than I normally would. So revs were up at 6K. Didn't seem to be an issue.

But- this car is far for everyone. No doubt the gears are long( But not really because one needs to remember you have 9000 rpm on tap) but it also revs quite quickly -so I find it a blast.
Now I am anxious again for the Winter to be over so I can enjoy me weekend road journeys.

I have a '16 Spyder and love the car but I would love it more if second gear wasn't so long. However, the many pros of the car far outweigh this one issue.

For those that have both doesn’t the .2 Gt3 have more midrange torque (better curve) than the 991.1 Gt3 RS ? Most reviewers like the new engine the best . I ask this because I’ve never driven the RS and my .2 is stuck in my garage until April. 😏

Give the 991.2 GTS MPSC2’s and it will be as fast or faster than the GT3 on a track.
Im not so sure . The new GT3 has a lot more to it than just an engine . I’d like to see the GTS run a 7:12 on the Nurburgring even with the same tires .

Yes it does, the new engine has a better tq curve(mid range) for street driving. But to the OP, tq in the 300lbs is still no match for the cars he had owned like the turbo.

If the 991.2 GT3 has more mid-range torque than the 991.1 GT3 RS, then I don't see how anybody can complain. Granted, I was only in the .1 RS for like 2 hours, but it felt like a fantastic car. So the .2 GT3 should be even better based on what everyone says.

So apparently there's not enough low end torque to drive around in low revs (true) but if you shift at redline you end up going too fast for public roads (probably also true). Have you tried shifting somewhere in between? If you want to be able to row all the way through the gears at redline maybe you just need a slower car?
With every manufacturer making flappy paddle cars all over the place nobody wants to learn to drive the car to produce the desired horsepowers anymore, they just expect the car to do it for them.

Having had a 997.2 GT3, I love the new 991.2. I've considered one but I have to say for my use the GTS torque spec at 405 lb-ft. much lower in the range, would be much better than the 339 lb-ft. that new GT3 delivers.
