VW backed studies exposing people and monkeys to toxic car exhaust
These reports came out a couple of days ago:
The experiments — carried out in 2014, a year before Volkswagen was caught using software to cloak excess diesel emissions — involved exposing a group of monkeys to exhaust from a late-model diesel Volkswagen, while another group was exposed to exhaust from an older Ford diesel pickup. After breathing diluted exhaust for four hours, the monkeys were examined and researchers took samples of lung tissue to check for inflammation. The research did not kill the monkeys, but it was unclear what happened to them afterward.

As a human being I am really appalled. As a Jew with the part of the family vanished in Holocaust it invokes the worst associations in my mind. It makes me re-evaluate my relationship with Porsche brand.

Unfortunately I am willing to bet that this type of stuff happens across the board with corporations under the table(and even some universities here in the USA I've read about), it is hurtful to read about especially as I believe in treating animals with respect and compassion
The article leaves a sour taste in my mouth if true, it seems like most of the VW involvement with Porsche has not been for good...

Now a fig leaf - they suspended a corporate lobbyist who agreed to fall on the sword. Just finding a scapegoat and serving his head is a typical cowardly bull****. There is really something wrong with the whole corporate culture. I believe as customers and public we owed an explanation.

Just watched the first episode of "Dirty Money" on Netflix. Last 15 min is all about the experiments on monkeys. Apparently they planned to have humans riding a stationary bike while the exhaust gas from the vehicles was pumped to the room where they exercise. At the last moment someone said its probably or a good idea. So they put monkeys in the cubes and pumped the exhaust gas there while playing cartoons for monkeys.

When I was a kid in the 70s, my Grandmother worked in a small, non-descript facility on Long Island. We would sometimes pick her up from work, which was cool because we got to see the monkeys in the cages and get them to hold our fingers and stuff. We thought the monkeys were pets and Grandma was taking care of them. Yeah, we were wrong.
