I agree, unless you happen to be tracking on one of world's fastest tracks. Then it could potentially be a big deal (and in extreme example, could even be difference between crashing and not...)

I have never driven a track fastest enough in the Western US where wing would matter, but I have across the pond. If you've ever entered a corner at over 155mph, you'd want all the help you can get...

Better question is....

can you convert your Bose audio to standard sound for the track to go with the wing because after all it is a track car and you should only hear the engine in a track car, but then convert back to Bose so you can hear your touring tunes?

I prefer this one:

Well, in fact, we could use it as a basis for a new one:
There are 10 types of people, those who want a GT3 with Touring package and those who don't

They have the exact same downforce, but the Touring is more draggy so the only difference the OP would experience is maybe a 10th at the most on the long straights of Road America or Road Atlanta. Everywhere else will be no difference.

I'd be interested to see your data, if you could provide a link?

I am very skeptical, as the 911R has the highest top speed on any of the 4.0L cars so far even without ram-air scoops. Leads me to believe the retractable wing has the least downforce and drag...

Leads me to believe the ram-air scoops, not unlike like the rear wing in real world applications, are more about show... than go.

Just an incoherent thought, has anyone considered adding a turbo and 4 wheel drive to a GT3? It would have to be a plug and play type adapter so it's easily removable depending on if I'm at a C&C or a C&C.

Pretty sure they add 10-15hp at top speed. But even that is only 2-3%.

Adding 2-3% power makes a very small improvement to top speed (it takes 800% the power to go 100% faster with equal drag), but adding drag has a pretty significant effect in the other direction.

I like the OP's idea, and I was thinking of taking it one step further.. going Touring, but then occasionally switching in a PDK module for track work so my lap times could be just as fast as my buddy who went pdk, then go back to manual transmission for road use? Pretty wicked smart idea right?

So, Do you guys think this would be that hard?.. it's probably just a simple ECU re flash, and a few screws to remove the paddles behind the column for true manual use, and maybe a few more screws loose for the transmission, and maybe a few more screws loose for the spoiler. Is that too many screws loose?

Trying to find a link with no luck. I know for a fact I have seen it, also that the Gurney flap was added because they couldn't match the Wing's downforce with the spoiler alone. Cd numbers are 3.3 and 3.5 respectively.

I totally respect people who ask to see the data!
