Default A drive in the GT3 Touring and Carrera T

Hello everyone,

I'm headed for Europe to attend a small vehicle launch for the Carrera T and GT3 Touring for 000 Magazine—and thought I'd open a thread for a dialog about both cars for those interested.

I don't expect there to be tremendous differences in the GT3 Touring from the .2 GT3 MT I drove last summer, but there may be some people on hand who can answer technical questions and/or more. I'll have a camera with me, and may be somewhat data limited as we'll be in remote areas at times, but if you've got questions or photo requests, please pass them along. Hopefully there will be a car or Porsche representative who can help answer them.

Pete

EDIT: Pics added—see post #273

Thanks Pete. Very interested in both (for different reasons).
Will make the wait for my Touring somewhat easier...

Great - very nice of you!

Initial questions on GT3 Touring would be:

>difference in front/rear downforce vs. regular GT3, and any difference in aero balance at, say, 70MPH?
>Reason for the Gurney flap when it didn't feature on the 911R? Was this a learning from the R?

Confirm or not whether the front spoiler is smaller on the touring.

Compare the downforce of the wing v. the flap on the touring (trap times and vmax imply higher drag on the touring, but no Porsche mention of downforce).

How the amount of sound deadening compares between the various models (e.g. whether the touring is the same as the GT3 wing, GT3 compared to R, T compared to GTS).

Confirm the steeper gearing on the 911T is simply the S gear ratio.

Thanks!

PS Hint to porsche they should allow leather to sample on the next GT car or late GT3. :-)

Amazing, keep us informed. Delta GT3T vs GT3 man is what we want to know.

I am actually interested in what you think about the Carrera T when you drive her.

Does the Model truly fill a gap or just a ploy to generate more sales??

Same curiousity about the Carrera T. Frankly my interest is in a comparison between the Carrera T and the 991.2 GTS (both MT). I'm in the market for a nice weekend Porsche 911 in MT for tooling around and the 991.2 GTS was looking like the best option until the Carrera T was announced. Not a track car, but as a fun car how would the lightweight Carrera T feel to drive, especially with the optional powerkit. Thanks and looking forward to your impressions.

Are there any suspension differences (damper and spring rates) between the gt3 touring and standard gt3. So very slight aero tweaks apart the touring is basically just a cosmetic trim to the rear of the car if mechanically the cars are identical?

Nope, my bad, there is no optional powerkit for the Carrera T. It's a straight twin turbo charged 3.0l pushing out 370HP!

Hi Pete, perhaps you can ask why US and Canadian models don’t have the satellite antenna delete option since satellite radio will be a thing of the past soon. The “Wart“ on the roof is ugly and the thought of having a hole drilled through the roof is horrifying. Thanks and safe travel.
