I had a .1 then .2 RS. Before that a 997 GT3 which I had for 10 years and recently almost bought it back. Missed that car. The Touring reminds me of the 997 and at least to me the drive is similar. I wanted a manual and this one was almost perfect spec for me. The Touring seems a lot smaller than the RS from behind the wheel. The RS is a great car and the PDK is amazing! The Touring has an old school feeling to it. I like the black wheels and I think they look great in person, but as you say that’s a personal choice. Can’t go wrong with either car.

After not driving my Touring for nearly a month, and driving R almost daily, I can tell you two things matter of fact. First, the Touring has to be one of the most amazingly competent (if not the most) all-around performance cars in the world. Comfortable, quiet and understated. Second, although very similar to R in many ways, the Touring is a very different machine from driver’s perspective. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Touring is effortless to drive hard and fast. Much more so than the R. Steering, suspension, throttle response and sound are all a bit more numb. A bit more muted. But certainly NOT in a bad way. Suspension is supple and ride is extremely compliant (especially with wheels clad in Michelin Alpins) yet the Touring feels more stable, more planted to the ground versus the R. Confidence inspiring.

Flat-footed shifting is a game changer. So simple. So satisfying.

Akra center-bypass on Touring, and I couldn’t imagine a better setup for this car. It’s quiet under normal driving circumstances with sport exhaust off. Turn it on and/or get above 5k and car turns into an animal in more ways than one. Zero drone and not annoyingly loud in cockpit, even with driver’s window down half way at 9k. After an hour or so of spirited driving, I do need to close the window as exhaust note wears on me. Windows closed and one could drive this thing hard for a whole day without getting tired of the sounds. Incredible machine.

Shifting couldn’t be smoother. Have Numeric in the R and it’s quite the contrast. Touring is borderline sloppy in comparison but don’t know that I’d change a thing. Appreciate how easy the shifts are with stock setup. Well suited for Touring.

After a lot of going back and forth about ordering the satin aluminum wheels on my GT3, I finally went for them. It was tough, because I couldn't tell from pictures, and there were none around to see at the time in person. I'm so glad I went with them, as I think they're perfect.

Are Wheels are satin or standard silver?
If I had gotten to choose the color of my car, it would have been agate, too (or GT silver). Unfortunatley mine was already configured and I had to take it, as it was. Lucky enough to get a Touring in the first place.
Except for the paint and wheels, I would not have have chosen anything differently on my car. And you can never really go wrong with black body, so no regrets.

Can you explain a bit more in detail? Really curious here.

That is something I just figured out quite some time after I already had the car. It kinda feels weird to me and I almost never really use it. Need to try getting used to it. Technically fascinating, though.

Sorry, English is not my mother tounge, so sometimes I need to ask: What exactly do you mean by "Numeric"?

Touring is a bit numb relative to R. R steering has a bit more feel. R revs more freely. R is louder in the cabin. R shifts feels crisper. Road feel in the R is greater, especially cornering. Sound and shift feel further enhanced on my R with full Akra exhaust and Numeric short-shifter.

Numeric short-shifter offers a more precise and 'notchy' shifting experience with a bit more resistance throw to throw.
