i'm going with Bose. the trip from toronto to mid-ohio is soul-robbing, so anything to break up the monotony is worth it in my book. I highly doubt I'll notice the extra few pounds on track.

the base system sucks.

do you just want to listen to the radio to pass time or do you actually care how good it sounds?

if you care, get the bose.(unless you plan on modding the exhaust, which i highly recommend, then stick with base system, with loud exhaust even cruising you can barely hear the stereo.)

stock exhaust, when under hard acceleration/fun driving you wont hear the stereo, but when cruising at 70 mph, the car is actually fairly quiet.

you should be able to hear the stereo fine.

i had the side muffler delete with the 997 cup exhaust so even having a stereo at all was pointless.

If you listen to any music at all in the car you better get BOSE. I have a 991.1 and I couldn’t believe how bad sound package plus was. Unlistenable. Had to pull it and go aftermarket.

Sound package plus is actually less powerful by 10W than the base system in a new Honda Civic LX. Truly a disgrace.

lol +1, owned a GT4 w/o and Cayman S with Bose, w/o sucked hard and even though I rarely cared about the music, when I did it was terrible.

Coming from someone who regularly drives 3+ hours on highway cruises in a GT3, DEFINITELY get the Bose system...

Get it.

It's 1% of the total price of the car (maybe less depending on spec).

Don't be penny wise, C-note foolish.

I have the base HD radio in my C2S and I hated it at first, but I realized that much of it was due to source. With a decent source it’s fine. Not great, but not as bad as I originally concluded. The Bose in my Spyder is better but not by an order of magnitude. Biggest plus of the Bose is having a sub. Still, with all the road noise these cars let in, I lose a lot at the sound anyway. I may just get some of the Bose HearPhones and wear those in the car paired to Tidal on my phone.

I would of never of ordered the Bose.

But- grabbed a car that was already built. It has the bose so I now paid for it.

Knowing what I know now I would check the box. It sounds pretty darn good and much better than my GT4.. I am not a huge stereo guy but do appreciate it

Lots of other options people get all the time are less important, are noticed less, and matter even less to future value than Bose, such as:

- visors in alcantara or leather
- auto dimming mirrors
- light design package
- door sills anything other than standard (free) aluminum
- center storage compartment lid with Porsche crest or logo
- headlight washer nozzles painted

...and on and on.

Now if you rarely or never listen to radio or stereo, then fine. But If you do, don’t fool yourself. The base stereo sucks. I had a 991.1 GT3 with Sound Package Plus, which is established in the is thread already is superior to the 991.2 GT3 base stereo, and it wasn’t good.

Get the Bose unless you spec’d a stripper.

I just bought mine and it is a stripper. Was a bit put down, since I enjoy my music. But my GT3 doesn't even have Bluetooth streaming!! HOWEVER.... with all that said, i haven't thought about music when driving... All I want to do is hear the roar of the exhaust, the clunks of the gear box and the screech of the tires when losing traction.

If it is a money issue and you are looking to save, drop the BOSE system. You can spend that money on other stuff for your GT3.

I wouldn't and I didn't. The base system is good enough. If you care about sound quality (which I do, some would call me an audiophile) the Bose system isn't going to give you that anyway. Bose has maybe the worst reputation in high-end audio (they are considered a marketing company).

I didn’t order it bc I only listen to talk radio or podcasts while I’m driving longer distances. No doubt the base radio will suck, but the bypass exhaust for the same price will make its suckiness less noticeable.
